I saw the snares that the enemy spreads out over the world and I said groaning,
"What can get through from such snares?" Then I heard a voice saying to me,
"Humility."
Announcements
• Last Sunday’s attendance was 42 souls, collection was 559.00 total. May our
Lord God reward you abundantly for your generosity.
• With the flu season coming, I would like to get emergency contact information.
In case we ever need to cancel or change our scheduled services, please write
down your name (one per family) and e-mail address and phone number. You
can also send e-mail (feromurin@hotmail.com) or sms (916-539-1534) with
your contact information. If you are a visitor and you would like to be notified,
write “visitor” after your name. Thank you very much. Many of you travel long
distances to the church, it would be very unpleasant to find it locked, so I will try
to notify you, in unexpected emergencies.
• With the flu season coming, please pay attention to the proper way of receiving
Holy Communion. When you approach the priest, state your name (not
necessary, if the priest knows your name) and open your mouth without sticking
your tongue out. The priest should be able to place the Eucharist in your mouth
without touching you with the spoon.
“Christmas around the world” event, on November 14th 2009, which also
happens to be the Feast of St. Philip the Apostle! Please reserve that
day. Beforehand, we will need people to transport the items and baked goods,
etc. to the hall, and to set-up. During the event, we will need people to take shifts
working at the booth. Also, if you have any items you would be willing to make
or donate, especially baked goods or Christmas crafts, please do so. They can be
stored at the church if you do not have room at home. Also, for health reasons
all items of food should be wrapped securely. If you can help, please contact
Margaret Dean or Elizabeth Baker.

Fridays in general are marked as days of simple abstinence or equivalent
penance. Let us remember each other as we offer prayers and sacrifices to God, in
union with the Cross of Christ.
Sacramento Events to note
• The Sacramento Diocese is participating in a nationwide pro-life effort entitled
“40 Days for Life”, which are 40 days set aside to fast and pray for an end to abortion
and to all other attacks on human life. They have selected one site, so that all those
engaged in this “fight for life” will be united, and give greater witness to the
community at large. The specific clinic is located at 2322 Butano Drive, Sacramento,
California 95864, and vigil hours are from 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Mondays through
Saturdays. Please consider signing up for an hour—you can visit the website
www.40daysforlife.com/sacramento, or contact your pastor to sign up. Another way to
participate is to attend the Mass and/or to pray for one hour of Eucharistic Adoration
vigils held each Thursday (from 9 a.m.-6:30 a.m, Friday), at Presentation Parish, 4123
Robertson Avenue, Sacramento, 95821. To sign up, call Karen at (916) 712-3706, or

especially.
