Our client, Tyler Sullivan of Bombtech Golf, desires a putter that surpasses other top named putters on the market. With this in mind, we did research on competing patents as well as what about the club we cold optimize. From this, we formulated targets that the club should make, after which we divide tasks up. Utilizing equation from the research, I made calculations on the roll of the ball due to the clubs angle and mass properties. I went on to sketch potential ideas and created them in SolidWorks from the knowledge gained from the group. After the comparison of designs and the selection of our best design, we presented it to the client. At this point, the client rejected our idea, so we redesign, as individuals, based upon new wishes brought to our attention. This process occurred a few times and with each, we gather more information on what the client truly wanted to make the next better. With our final design in the process of being manufactured, we are beginning the testing phase. Using SolidWork, I helped conceive the rig that will be built to test our putter against other putters. Through all this, there has been a few design presentations and weekly reports to show the progress of the project tour client, faculty mentor and fellow classmates. All told, this has been an invaluable experience on the design and manufacturing processes as was as bringing a product to the market.
