Professional debates

The New Pattern of Development Cooperation

Organised and supported by the UK Governments Chevening Scholarships
and the Centre for Development Studies,
part of the University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School
The objective of the event is to represent and discuss current changes and challenges
taking place in the global development trends: South-South development cooperation;
new players of foreign aid and new priorities of aid allocation (middle income, low income,
fragile countries); MDGs, post-2015 MDGs, inequality issues and development patterns
adjustment; present and future of international development institutions and other
relevant topics.
The event features and relevance/motivation: the Chevening scholars are talented
students who went through a tough competition to be chosen for the prestigious
scholarship programme. Many of them have severe work experience in different fields
and have demonstrated leadership capacity in their home countries (mostly developing
ones). That is why the debates are considered to be professional ones with presentations
by both academicians/institutions employees and the Cheveners. The important topic
raised to discuss will help to the future leaders and other debates attendees to put their
efforts on national and international development in the right way to ensure effectiveness
and harmonisation of that efforts.
Venue: the University of Glasgow.
Date: 20 June, 2014.
Duration: 11 a.m. 5.00 p.m. (including 1-hour lunch and 20-minute coffee/tea break)
