Telepathy: Betazoids have telepathy, the ability to communicate and read other's minds. This
ability has great range, perhaps hundreds of miles and doesn't require face-to-face contact. To
use the ability, the Betazoid makes a Smarts check !hich acts as their "rcane Skill roll#$ if they
get a success they read the targets' surface thoughts, a raise means they can read deeper
thoughts. They have % po!er points, it cost one po!er point to use !ith a duration of & '(round#.

Appealing: Betazoids have a certain confidence and charisma !hich most species find pleasing.
Betazoids begin play !ith the )harismatic *dge
+sychic "!areness, The Betazoid can automatically detect the presence of any living being or
more precisely, "ny entity !ith a thought process# !ithin a range equal to her Spirit die type in
inches. She can recognize the mental patterns of different races, and even individuals, if she is
familiar !ith the race or person in question. -or e.ample, a Betazoid standing outside a room
could sense that /)apt. Serikieva is in the room, along !ith t!o other 0umans, an "ndorian, and
t!o strange aliens.1
Strong emotional outbreaks of persons !ithin range are likely to be noticed by the Betazoid
similar to someone shouting out loud for !ithin a cro!d#. The Betazoid herself can also
/broadcast1 specific thoughts, !hich can be /heard1 by any other character !ith +sychic
"!areness !ithin range.

Telepathy

6ith this po!er the Betazoid can read the thoughts of other persons. To use it she must be a!are
of the target, preferably by sight, although visual contact via a vidscreen is sufficient for this
purpose.
The Betazoid must concentrate on the target for at least a full minute preventing her from taking
any other actions# and then make a Spirit roll opposed by the target7s Spirit although a target
may choose not to oppose the attempt, in !hich case a simple Spirit roll is sufficient#.
8f the betazoid cannot see, but hear her target directly or via a communication device# she
suffers a -9 penalty to her Spirit roll. 8f the only contact bet!een her and the target is through her
+sychic "!areness, the penalty increases to -:.
;n a successful roll the Betazoid kno!s !hat the target is thinking about right no!. The detected
thoughts can take many forms, like !ords, pictures, feelings or even sounds.
Telepathic Probe

6ith this *dge, the Betazoid can probe deeper into the mind of her target.
She must first make Telepathic contact as described under Telepathy. She can then search the
target7s mind for specific information. *ach attempt to do so takes one minute and requires a
separate opposed roll of Spirit vs. Spirit. "ny result other than a 3aise makes the target a!are of
the probing although he may not kno! !hat it actually is#.
Telepathic Message

The Betazoid can send out a Telepathic message to any thinking entity !ithin range of her
+sychic "!areness. The target, !ho does not need to be psychically gifted himself, !ill /hear1 the
Betazoid7s thought inside his head.
Before she can send the message, the Betazoid must make Telepathic contact !ith the target as
described under Telepathy. ;nce contact is established, she can /keep the line open1 for
subsequent messages for as long as she is able to concentrate.
Multiple Telepathy

This e.perienced Betazoid can use her Telepathic abilities on multiple targets at once. *very
additional target imposes an additional -' penalty to the Spirit roll.
Telepathic Attack
3equirements, 0eroic, Telepathy, Smarts d'>5, Spirit d'95
The generally peaceful Betazoids are loath to use this po!er, due to both its aggressive nature
and the inherent risk to the Telepath herself.
"fter establishing Telepathic contact the Betazoid and the Target make another opposed roll of
Spirit vs. Spirit. The loser suffers a level of -atigue for every success and 3aise the !inner got
over him. This -atigue can lead to death.
Extended Range

The range of this Betazoid7s +sychic "!areness is multiplied by %. This *dge may be taken
multiple times, but no more than once per 3ank.
Betazoid Species Traits:
+2 Wisdom, +2 Charisma, -2 Strength. Due to the Betazoid inclination toward
peace, things like muscle building are secondar concerns to the philosophical or
the intellectual.

penalties due to their size.

Empathic [Psionic]: Betazoids are granted a +2 circumstance bonus to 'ather
(n)ormation checks when dealing with non-telepathicall opa*ue species. +his
in)ormation comes )rom an empathic reading o) the target,s emotions as well as
the target )eeling a sense o) trust with the Betazoid character.
Empathy [Psionic]: Betazed empath can detect the sur)ace emotions o) other
beings, granting them a +- circumstance bonus on Sense !oti$e skill checks.
+his power does not )unction against the .erengi, Breen, or se$eral other races
with the +elepathicall /pa*ue racial abilit. 0mpath normall works to a range
o) %2& meters, but especiall strong emotions ma e1tend into the range o) a
Betazoid empath.
Limited Telepathy [Psionic]: Betazoids can onl use their telepathic abilities to
communicate telepathicall with other telepaths. +his power is limited to a range
o) %2& meters. +he can read anone,s thoughts, but can pro2ect thought onl to
