New Beginnings

Volume 1 | Issue 3

Voices for Earth Justice is an interfaith network of people committed to

prayer, education and action that deepen our sense of wonder,
responsibility, and gratitude for all creation.

Education on Harmful Chemicals

As a supporter of the Michigan Network for Childrens Environmental Health (MNCEH)
we are educating seniors and families about harmful chemicals. We also urge them to
contact senators to lead reform of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) of 1976. Toxic
chemicals linked to cancer, birth defects, and other chronic diseases do not belong in
everyday products used in homes, schools and workplaces. We have a once-in-ageneration opportunity to reform this legislation, prevent harm to our health from toxic
hazards, and save scarce healthcare dollars in the process.
Please support TSCA reform that would:
* Take prompt action to restrict the worst chemicals to which people are exposed.
* Require basic health and safety information for all chemicals.
* Protect the most vulnerable, including children and pregnant women.
Our faith impels us to take action to protect our families and our communities.

Janet, Annette and Carol, We salute you !

Annette Desloover & Janet Traut are Adrian Dominican
Sisters who have each spent over a hundred hours
volunteering at Hope House. Weeding, raking leaves, tilling
the soil, and removing trash are tasks they do week after
week in hot weather and cool weather. They have improved
the property and given our project the lift it badly needed.
More importantly, they have made contact with neighbors,
and become the human face of our commitment to the
city of Detroit.
