Today we will continue to work on our analysis of TWTWB and how it
represents Australian values. We will also begin work on our
assessment task.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE (LO):
To be able to recognise Australian Values in TWTWB, and organise
this information into a presentation.
TEACHING AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES
1. Mark roll students to find as many words as possible from Australian Values. The longest word gets a prize! (10mins)
08:40 Revisit the A3 values worksheet. (15mins) Redistribute them, but to different groups. They must add the different lots of
information, for the same questions: 1. Which characters show this value in the movie? 2. What features of the character show this? 3.
A quote from the character that relates. 4. A description of a scene where this value is evident(ly) demonstrated or violated.
Main characters: Ellie, Homer, Lee, Fi, Robyn, Kevin, Corrie, Flip
2. 08:55 Character profiles. (20mins) constructed based on information from the values worksheet shared with the class
Heading: Main Character profiles
Name, Physical Description, Personality Traits, 2 values they embody AND explain why/how, 1 quote from the character
3. 09:15 Students collect laptop from trolley and start preparing their assessment presentation (30 mins)
Model prezi for the students on the PC; give them some tips on creating good presentations. They need to start preparing their speech
response to question 1 of the assessment task: describe and explain the aspects of Australian culture that have been represented in a
variety of the texts studied. Create a model prezi and show it to class.
Create dot points first, put these in your presentation. Then turn these points into sentences, for your speech script; e.g.
Those things dont happen not in this country is a key quote.
On the slide, write Those things dont happen, not in this country. Add a picture of the character Ellie.
In speech notes, write this is an important quote from TWTWB that represents the peaceful qualities of Australian culture. The character
Ellie, in this quote is showing that she has a strong belief in peace, mateship, and safety as aspects of Australian culture.
