Migration is the movement of people from one region to another. It may be permanent or temporary and can be classified as voluntary or involuntary movement. There are push factors which influences people to migrate from their country and pull factors in the country of destination.

Migration is the movement of people from one region to another. It may be
permanent or temporary and can be classified as voluntary or involuntary movement. There are push factors which influences people to migrate from their country and pull factors in the country of destination. External migration is where residence changes between a residential unit in the designation area and one outside it, and internal migration is where residence changes from one residential unit to another in the same designation area. Movement from one household to another household within the same compound, home or homestead is internal movement. It is not classified as internal migration and it is treated separately from internal migration. A study was done in the community of Flankers t determine the factors that influences migration from the community. The data was collected by the use of questionnaires which were issued out to find out the causes, effect and possible solution of migration of people from the community of Flanker. It was calculated that 67% of the respondents are males were and 33% were females. In Flanker where unemployment is around 60%, many people have moved to urbanized areas such as Montego Bay, in search of jobs. Every year, there are thousand of people from the community who migrate to developed communities because of the low standard of living, lack of social services and slow economic growth rates which have promoted this outward movement. Figure 1 pie chat showing percentage of unemployed person living in the community.
The pie chart above shows the percentage of people who are unemployed in flanker. Base on the analysis it can be concluded most of the people who live in flanker community are unemployed. The unemployment rate can be defined as the number of people actively looking for a job divided by the labour force. Changes in unemployment depend mostly on inflows made up of non-employed people starting to look for jobs, of employed people who lose their jobs and look for new ones and of people who stop looking for employment. However in flanker, there are many areas that are lack of proper infrastructure such as road development, buildings and houses. There is also lack of social services such as educational and technical institutions. In areas like these, there is pie chart showing the percentage of the community that was selected by each respondents who said that the community is unemployed 50% 40% lack of job opportunities, and little or no agricultural activities take here. These factors contribute to people migrating from the community. See figure 2.

The diagram drawn above shows the factor which influences residents to leave the community of Flanker. It was recorded that 41.7% of respondents said violence, which almost double the response to lack of job opportunities, but had a slight increase of 8% of those who have chosen poor infrastructures. Violence influences many people to move from Flanker because of the violent activities that are taking place here. factorse that influences residents to leave the community to become afraid of the road whenever it gets dark. Bullies, gangs, weapons, and substance abuse all contribute to the fear experienced by many of today's students; violence in the communities cannot be overlooked. Notwithstanding the sometimes unfounded and overgeneralized fear and apprehension about violence among children and adults, often fueled by the media, violence in Flanker is a legitimate concern for everyone. 33% of the respondents stated that poor infrastructure is the second highest cause of migration from the community .Roads, houses and buildings such as schools, and clinics are poorly developed. This causes people to leave the community to migrate to other such as housing schemes and other residential areas to improve their surroundings. Another factor which causes person to leave the community with 25% of respondents is lack of job opportunities. Most people prefer to work outside of the community because there are better wages, and also more job opportunities. The table above shows some possible solutions which can reduce the number of people migrating from flanker. 8.4% of the respondents said the authorities make the community more attractive, 33.3% choose other options while the percentage of respondents who had chosen, provide more working opportunities was outstanding, with an average of 58.3% of respondents. A large number of persons are unemployed because of the lack of job opportunities in the community, resulting in a large number of people to migrate from the community and to relocate in the cities where there are more job opportunities. Therefore to provide more working opportunities as selected by the respondents are the main solution to the problem. Another solution is making the community more attractive would stop many people migrating from the community because the community will be more organized, and be more peaceful and appreciated by the people. Finally, people may also be influenced to move from the area due to the crime and violence activities which takes place here. Residents are complaining about the prolong shooting whenever it becomes dark, causing most persons to become afraid of the road because drive by shooting is prone to in areas like these. As a result, this causes the area to become a gust town. Figure 1.3 showing the impacts which migration has on the community.

Impacts which migration has on the community the community has a negative impact on the community as the are fewer working opportunities that are required, decrease in the number of person to socialize with and a decline in the number of taxi transportation that will be available on the road. The impact of rural to urban migration can lead to overpopulation, lack of job opportunities, shanty towns over crowded buses, traffic congestion, over crowded schools, hospital or even pollution in other areas. Also the members of parliament need to make strong action and proper plan in this regard. Therefore better employment, better services and better business opportunities are the driving forces for migration in flanker. When government attention shifts to developing rural areas through creating better job opportunities and providing better service and facilities, the migration will not only stop, it will reverse
