In recent years ethical values in business have been much emphasized. What is
ethical in one business may be unethical in another. Business in ethics is simply
means business ethics. Business ethics is the application of general ethical ideas to
business behavior. Ethical business behaviour facilitates and promote good to
society ,improves profitability , fosters business relations and business
productivity,reduces criminal penalities from public authorities and regulators,
protects business against unscrupulous employees and competitors,protect
employees from harmful actions by their employers and allow the people in
business to act consistently with their personal ethical beliefs.
Business ethics are the principles ,which govern and guide business
people to perform business functions .in that sense business ethics is a discipline .
If we have good and healthy principles it will help the business in a good manner.
It will increase the production ,goodwill etc. The principles that are determined on
the basis of observation and experimentation. Ethics emphasizes practical
application of principles. So it will lead to profit. Because when we applied these
principles we will know the advantage and disadvantage of that principle in the
practical scenario. It will help us to modify that and apply suitably. It will results in
profit and good brandvalue for our products. Business ethics became possible
due to the principles such as sinceriety,human welfare , service good behaviour
etc. These things are very necessary for a good business. This will give profit as
well as goodwill in the society.
Business ethics should not be based on emotions but is based on
reality and social customs prevailing in that environment. we know that business
environmental studies and adaptations suitable to that will result in profit. This
business ethics also related with human activities, decision and behaviour. So that
we could easily analyse the taste of the customer and the suitable
product/business to that area.
Ethical decisions differ with the individual
persepectives of different persons. Business ethics keep harmony between
different roles of businessmen , with every citizen,consumer,owner and investors.
Business ethics will increase the goodwill. It helps to increase mutual trust and
confidence ,helps in protection,perpetual sucession etc.
There are some limitations too for business ethics such as some authorities believe
that they wont get any reward for ethical conduct. Sometimes it is difficult to
decide what is ethical or not , for example , a business want to survive . At that
time the business will choose an unethical conduct to earn short term benefits.
So from all these we conclude that good business ethics
promote good business. At some situations business ethics has some limits . But
above all good ethics is always good for business..
