As the youngest Leg-

ends racing champion in the
history of Waterford Speed-
bowl, Middletowns Joey
Ternullo Jr. knows he has
a target on his back as the
racer to beat when he begins
his 2014 racing season. But
with nine years of racing ex-
perience already under his
belt, Ternullo, who turned
15 after the completion of
the 2013 season, is ready
to defend his title against
a pack of hungry racers
all wanting to take his title
when he returns to Water-
ford.
Im very excited to be-
gin the 2014 season, said
Ternullo, ranked among the
top-10 Legends drivers in
the country.
Last season was in-
credible. Winning the cham-
pionship and placing top
10 in the nation was huge.
I hope to carry my success
into this season and do as
well this year. Well be do-
ing a lot more traveling to
other tracks and I think the
increased competition will
be good for me, he said.
The Wednesday racing
series takes to the track for
its rst round on May 7, but
Ternullo will be pounding
out laps on the Waterford as-
phalt most Saturday nights
as well, beginning with the
April 12-13 2014 Blastoff
Weekend event.
Ternullos 2014 rac-
ing program will see his
father, Joe Sr., racking up
the miles driving the teams
race transporter. In addition
to racing at Waterford, Ter-
nullo will compete in some
of the 14 Legends races held
at Stafford Motor Speed-
way on Friday nights. This
will be the rst time since
the 1994 season that Leg-
ends cars will be part of the
weekly Friday night pro-
gram at Stafford.
The Laticrete-spon-
sored team will also be
racing at the one-third-
mile paved oval track at
Seekonk, Mass., the famed
New Hampshire Motor
Speedway at Loudon, N.H.,
the quarter-mile asphalt oval
race track at New Yorks
Bethel Motor Speedway and
possibly North Carolinas
Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Preparation for the
Xavier High School stu-
dents title defense started at
the conclusion of the 2013
season. After picking up
three wins, 11 top-ve and
17 top-10 nishes from 19
races in Waterfords Wild
n Wacky Wednesday racing
series, the Legends car was

Placing People in Jobs for Over 40 Years!
Permanent Temp-to-Hire Temporary Jobs
Maximize Networking Opportunities
Thinking of skipping that acquaintances party?
Not up to attending that networking mixer. You
may be missing out on a huge opportunity.
Admittedly, piling networking activities onto your
already busy schedule is stressful. But meeting
people through traditional networking, social
media or your daily life activities, can connect you
with job opportunities.
1. List your best opportunities for making new
connections. Consider everything you might
do and everywhere you might go: mixers,
fundraisers, kids activities and sporting events,
volunteering activities, conferences and
classes or educational seminars. Resolve to
chat with people.
2. Keep an open mind. You never know how a
chance encounter with a person may be able
to enrich or benet your professional life. If you
keep an open mind, you may meet someone
who can open new doors for you.
3. Accept invitations. When youre tempted
to decline an invitation, think of what you
stand to gain. Accept the invite and commit
to introducing yourself to at least three new
people.
4. Say goodbye. Before you leave, seek out the
people whom youve met to say goodbye
and (when appropriate) make plans to
connect again.
5. Use common sense. Whether its in a
professional or personal setting, be careful not
to divulge sensitive information about your job,
company or life especially to people you
dont know well.
