Assisting in Genesis: Scarlett Stewart and Wil Brown.
Come Holy Spirit. Fall afresh on our hearts. Fill us with
your power and presence. Wash away our sin and make
us white as snow.
Come Holy Spirit. Come like re, burn away our disease
and iniquity. Break us, melt us, then grow us again from
the ash.
Were calling on re.
Were calling on re.
Were calling on re, God.
Come set our hearts ablaze.

NOTES
G E N E S I S WOR S H I P T R A D I T I ON A L WOR S H I P
Today marks exactly fty days since we celebrated Easter
Sunday. (The white cloth on the cross these past weeks
has reminded us of the white linen clothes left behind in
the empty tomb of Jesus.) As we learn from the Scriptures,
it would have been ten days ago that Jesus ascended to
heaven (Acts 1). Just before He left, Jesus told the people
that were gathered on the Mount of Olives to remain in
Jerusalem until God the Father, sent the gift of the Holy
Spirit, who would baptize them with power from on high.
Ten days later, (today) as they were all gathered, that very
thing happenedon the rst day of the week, the day of the
resurrection, and Church was birthed. The disciples were
utterly transformed. The Holy Spirit came upon people as in
tongues of re (Acts 2). Through the centuries, the Church
has celebrated this day with the color of red, reminding us
of that re from above. The book of Hebrews tells us that
our God is a consuming re (Hebrews 12:29). Fire often
indicated the presence of God (burning bush, Mt. Sinai,
etc). It was through the Holy Spirit that the early Christians
were transformed and it is through that same Spirit that
makes possible the transformation of lives today, including
ours! - Dr. Dan Sharp

*Passing of the Peace
St. Paul always greeted with the words, The peace of God be
with you. This is an appropriate way to greet fellow brothers
and sisters in Christ, and so we say, The peace of the Lord be
with you and respond, And also with you. We then pass this
greeting of peace to one another. At the passing of the peace
we should earnestly desire Gods peace upon each person we
greet.

RECYCLE YOUR BULLETIN
8:30am & 9:45am worshipers can help the church be better
stewards of our resources and environment by placing
this worship bulletin in one of our recycling stations as you
leave today.
There are two right outside the Sanctuary: one in the Grand
Hallway leading to the Edington Ministry Center, and one
across from the entrance to the Prayer Room. If youre in
Lee Fellowship Hall, look for one to the right of the exit as
you leave.
The bulletins are reused for the 11:00am worship
service, and recycled on Monday morning.
