Welcome to USC Traditional Chinese Dances 7th annual showcase! We are
so thrilled to have you here, and our dancers are all equally as excited to be
performing for you. Our show tonight is the product of nearly 8 months worth
of preparation. These months included a considerable amount of blood, sweat,
tears, and bruises, but above all passion. We hope that our passion for dance
and dedication to Chinese culture is as evident in our performance as the
movements of our bodies.
The theme of our show centers on the magical nature of dreams, and the second
half will feature our dance interpretation of the story of Sleeping Beauty. As we
dance our way across the stage tonight, we hope to not only entertain but also to
inspire dreams. Whether eeting or enduring, conscious or unconscious, romantic
or ambitious, dreams give us the courage and inspiration to transform our lives.
For many of us on the team, dreams have dened who we are since childhood.
As dancers, one of our dreams is simply to be able to share our passion with
friends, family, and appreciative audiences. We are truly grateful for your support
here tonight as we showcase the results of so many months of hard work and
dedication. Thank you, and we hope you enjoy the show!

Daisy Huang
Mandarin Wu
Originally from Guang Dong, Ms. Daisy Huang graduated from the
Guang Dong Province Dance School and completed advanced studies
in choreography and artistic direction at the Beijing Dance Academy.
Since moving to the U.S. in 2006, Daisy has been actively performing
and teaching dance to further her expertise and expand her creativity
in choreography. Currently, Daisy is the choreographer and artistic
director for several local Chinese dance groups.
In December 2010, Daisy made her student dance recital debut
in the U.S., showcasing her diverse choreographic talents. The
performance received an excellent response from the audience. In
January 2013, Daisy presented her second student dance recital,
choreographing three pieces for USC TCDance: Where Dreams
Begin, Winter is Here and Two Kittens.
Mandarin Wu leaps between New York, Los Angeles, and where
ever she is needed, for exciting production and design projects.
She holds a Dance MFA from New York University, Tisch School
of the Arts; a Dance BA and Minor in Digital Arts from University
of California, Irvine; and was a Dance major and Valedictorian at
the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. She danced with
the Metropolitan Opera. She is the director of her own production
company - Mandarin Orange Performing Arts - who is producing a
large-scaled festival called Dance Bistro.
Mandarin loves to collaborate with different medias and people,
a freelance artist who is also engaged in graphic, costume, and
interior design work. If it werent for taking her rst Chinese
dance class, she would not have taken the road of dance and arts.
Mandarin is happy to present a charming number for TCD.
