OPENING YOUR GAME
------------------ SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS ------------------























1. SUPPORTED OPERATING SYSTEM:

WINDOWS 2000

WINDOWS XP

WINDOWS VISTA

WINDOWS 7

WINDOWS 8

2. DirectX 8 (or later) compatible graphics card with at least 32MB of memory.

3. A screen resolution of at least 800x600 and 65000 (16-bit) colors (preferably full color).

4. DirectX 8 compatible sound card.

You can download the newest version of DirectX from the Microsoft website at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/.)

When designing and testing games, the memory requirements are pretty high (at least 128 MB and preferably more,
also depending on the operating system).

When just running games, the memory requirements are less severe and depend a lot on the type of game.

------------------ INSTALLING GAME MAKER ------------------


1. Double click the game maker installer to run the installer set-up.


2. Follow the instructions on the screen. (You can install the program anywhere you like but it is best
to follow the default suggestions given).



























3. Wait until the installation bar gets full.









4. Click FINISH to end the installation.









NOTES:


Game Maker also installs a considerable number of images, sprites (animated images) and sound effects on your
computer, which can be used free of charge in your games. Also some example games are installed. All these can be
found in folders within the location where you installed Game Maker.

When you first run Game Maker a pop up menu will appear and will tell if you want to run the program in
ADVANCED MODE , just click NO because were just starting our lesson.

You will also be shown a tutorial at the right of the window. The tutorial will teach you how to quickly create your
first game. It will guide you through the basic steps in using Game Maker. If you have not used Game Maker before
you are strongly advised to work your way through the tutorial. You can always try the tutorial later through the
Help menu.

------------------ HIDING THE TUTORIAL ------------------


1. On the Lower Right side of the screen, unchecked the box saying the SHOW THE TUTORIAL AT
START UP to prevent the tutorial from showing again when you run Game Maker.






2. Click Hide button to close the tutorial.






Note: We hide the tutorial to save up some work space.

------------------ OPENING THE TUTORIAL ------------------


1. Click HELP in the MENU BAR.








2. Choose TUTORIALS in the HELP MENU.








3. Then click 1- Your First Game. The tutorial will appear at the right side of the screen.

------------------ SAVING YOUR GAME ------------------


1. Click FILE in the MENU BAR.








2. Click SAVE in the FILE MENU.








3. Type the FILE NAME of your game then click SAVE BUTOON.








Note:
We save our work for later use (like editing).
All saved files are located in C:\Program Files\Game_Maker8\Examples.

1. Click FILE in the MENU BAR.








2. Click OPEN in the FILE MENU.








3. Click the file that you want to open then click OPEN BUTTON.
