Remembrance before eating:

Bismillah
In the name of Allah.

and if you forget to say it before starting, then you should say (when you remember):

Bismillahi awwalahu wa akhirahu
In the name of Allah in its beginning and end.

After eating:

Alhamdulillahil ladhi at 'amani hadha wa razaqanihi min ghayri hawlin minni wa la
quwah
All praise is for Allah who fed me this and provided it for me without any might nor
power from myself.



Remembrance on wearing a garment:

Alhamdulillahil ladhi kasani hadha wa razaqanihi min ghayri hawlin minni wa la
quwah
All Praise is for Allah who has clothed me with this garment and provided it for me,
with no power nor might from myself.

On undressing:

Bismillah
In the name of Allah.



Remembrance before sleeping:

Bismikallahumma amutu wa ahya
In Your name O Allah, I live and die.

Remembrance after waking up:

Alhamdulillahil ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana wa ilayhin nushur
All praise is for Allah who gave us life after having taken it from us and unto Him is the
resurrection.



Remembrance on entering the mosque


A udhu billahil azhim, wa bi waj hihil karimi minash shaytanir rajim. Bismillahi was
salatu was salamu ala rasulillah. Allahummaf tahli abwaba rahmatik
I take refuge with Allah, The Supreme and with His Noble Face, and His eternal
authority from the accursed devil. In the name of Allah, and prayers and peace be
upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open the gates of Your mercy for me.

Remembrance on leaving the mosque

Bismillahi was salatu was salamu ala rasulillah. Allahumma inni as aluka min fadlik.
Allahumma simni minash shaytanir rajim.
In the name of Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah,
I ask You from Your favour. O Allah, guard me from the accursed devil.



Remembrance on entering the house:

Bismillahi walajna wa bismillahi kharajna wa 'ala rabbina tawakkalna
In the name of Allah we enter and in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord
we place our trust.

On leaving the house:

Bismillahi tawakkaltu 'alallah wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah
In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except
with Allah.



Remembrance before entering the toilet:

Bismillah, allahumma inni a 'udhubika minal khubuthi wal khaba-ith
In the name of Allah. O Allah, I take refuge with you from all evil and evil-doers.

After leaving the toilet:

Ghufranaka
I ask You (Allah) for forgiveness.



Remembrance on riding a camel or any means of transportation:

Bismillahi wal hamdulillah, subhanalladhi sakh khara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu
muqrinin wa inna ila rabbina lamunqalibun
In the name of Allah and all praise is for Allah. How perfect He is, the One Who has
placed this (transport) at our service and we ourselves would not have been capable
of that, and to our Lord is our final destiny.

When you reach your destination:

A udhu bikalimatillahit tammati min sharri ma khalaq
I take refuge in Allahs perfect words from the evil that He has created.



Remembrance after any congregation:

Subhanakallahumma wa bihamdika, ash hadu alla ilaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa
atubu ilayk
How perfect You are O Allah, and I praise You, I bear witness that none has the right
to be worshipped except You, I seek Your forgiveness and turn in repentance to You.



Remembrance on entering the market:


La ilaha illallah, wahdahu la sharikalah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamd, yuhyi wa yumit,
wa huwa hayyun la yamut, biyadihil kahyr, wa huwa ala kulli shay in qadir
None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him
belongs all sovereignty and praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is living and
does not die. In His hand is all good and He is over all things, omnipotent.



When one of you sneezes he should say:

Alhamdulillah
All praise is for Allah.

and his companion who hears it should say to him:

Yarhamukallah
May Allah have mercy upon you.

and the one who sneezed replies back to him:

Yahdikumullahu wayuslihu balakum
May Allah guide you and rectify your condition.



Supplication said when it rains:

Allahumma sayyiban nafi an
O Allah, may it be a beneficial rain cloud.

After rainfall:

Mutirna bifadlillahi wa rahmatihi
We have been given rain by the grace and mercy of Allah.

Asking for clear skies:

Allahumma hawalayna wa la alayna, allahumma alal akami waz zirab, wa butunil
awdiyah, wa manabitish shajar
O Allah, let the rain fall around us and not upon us, O Allah, (let it fall) on the pastures,
hills, valleys and the roots of trees.



The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say on the sick when visiting him:

La ba sa tahurun insha Allah
Never mind, may it (the sickness) be a purification, if Allah wills.



Supplication Said to the Newly Wed:

Barakallahu lak, wabaraka alayk, wajama a baynakuma fil khayr
May Allah bless for you (your spouse) and bless you, and may He unite both of you in
goodness.



Supplication on Strong Wind:


Allahumma inni as aluka khayraha wa khayra ma fiha, wakhayra ma ursilat bih, wa a
udhu bika min sharriha, wa sharri ma fiha wa sharri ma ursilat bih
O Allah, I ask You for its goodness, the good within it, and the good it was sent with,
and I take refuge with You from its evil, the evil within it, and from the evil it was sent
with.



Supplication on Adhan:
Repeat silently after what the muadh-dhin is saying except for the parts: Hayya alas
salah and Hayya alal falah which you should say:

La hawla wa la quwata illal billah
There is no might nor power except with Allah.

After Adhan:


Allahumma rabba ha dhihid dawatittammati wassalatil qaimati ati muhammadanil
wasilata wal fadilata wab ath hu maqamam mahmudanil ladhi wa adtah, innaka la
tukhliful mi ad
O Allah, Owner of this perfect call and Owner of this prayer to be performed, bestow
upon Muhammad al-waseelah and al-fadeelah and send him upon a praised platform
which You have promised him. Verily, You never fail in Your promise.
al-waseelah: A station in paradise.
al-fadeelah: A rank above the rest of creation.



When starting ablution:

Bismillah
In the name of Allah.

Upon completing the ablution:

Ash hadu alla ilaha illallah, wahdahu la sharikalah, wa ash hadu anna muhammadan
abduhu wa rasuluh. Allahummaj alni minat tawwabina waj alni minal muta
tahhirin.
I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone without
partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. O Allah,
make me of those who return to You often in repentance and make me of those who
remain clean and pure.



What to Read on Salah:

Dua ul Istiftah:

Subhanakallahumma wabihamdika, watabarakasmuka, wata ala jadduka, wala ilaha
ghayruk
How perfect You are O Allah, and I praise You. Blessed be Your name, and lofty is
Your position and none has the right to be worshipped except You.

(Then read Suratul Fatihah and another Surah after it.)

How perfect my Lord is, the Supreme.

Itidal (Raising from Ruku):

Attahiyyatu lillahi wassalawatu wattayyibat, assalamu alayka ayyuhan nabi
warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, assalamu alayna wa ala ibadillahis saliheen. Ash
hadu an la ilaha illallah, wa ashhadu anna muhammadan abduhu warasuluh.
Allahumma salli ala muhammad, wa ala ali muhammad, kama sallayta ala ibrahim
wa ala ali Ibrahim, innaka hamidun majid, allahumma barik ala muhammad, wa
ala ali muhammad, kama barakta ala ibrahima wa ala ali ibraheem, innaka
hamidun majid

At-tahiyyat is for Allah. All acts of worship and good deeds are for Him. Peace and the
mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you O Prophet. Peace be upon us and all of
Allahs righteous servants. I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped
except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. O Allah,
send prayers upon Muhammad and the followers of Muhammad, just as You sent
prayers upon Ibraheem and upon the followers of Ibraheem. Verily, You are full of
praise and majesty. O Allah, send blessings upon Mohammad and upon the family of
Muhammad, just as You sent blessings upon Ibraheem and upon the family of
Ibraheem. Verily, You are full of praise and majesty.
send prayers: praise and exalt him in the highest and superior of gatherings: that of
the closest angels to Allah.

At-tahiyyat: all words which indicate the glorification of Allah. His eternal existence,
His perfection and His sovereignty.

Taslim:

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah
May the peace and mercy of Allah be with you.



Dhikr After Salah:

Allahumma antas salamu wa minkas salam. Tabarakta Ya Dhal Jalali wal Ikram. La
ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharikalah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu wa huwa ala kulli
shay-in qadir. Allahumma la mania lima atayta, wa la mutiya lima manata, wa la
yanfau dhal jaddi minkal jad. La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharikalah, lahul mulku
wa lahul hamdu wa huwa ala kulli shay-in qadir. La hawla wa la quwata illa billah. La
ilaha illallahu, wa la nabudu illa iyah. lahun nimatu wa lahul fadlu wa lahuth thana-
ul hasan. La ilaha illallahu, mukhlisina lahud dina wa law karihal kafirun
O Allah, You are As-Salam and from You is all peace, blessed are You, O Possessor of
majesty and honour. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without
partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things
omnipotent.O Allah, none can prevent what You have willed to bestow and none can
bestow what You have willed to prevent, and no wealth or majesty can benefit
anyone, as from You is all wealth and majesty. None has the right to be worshipped
except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He
is over all things omnipotent. There is no might nor power except with Allah, none
has the right to be worshipped except Allah and we worship none except Him. For
Him is all favour, grace, and glorious praise. None has the right to be worshipped
except Allah and we are sincere in faith and devotion to Him although the disbelievers
detest it.

As-Salam: The One Who is free from all defects and deficiencies.

How perfect Allah is. All praise is for Allah. Allah is the greatest.


La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulku walahul hamdu wahuwa ala
kulli shay in qadir
None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him
belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things omnipotent.

It is also from the sunnah to recite Ayatul Kursi (Al-Baqarah:255) after each prayer.
The following three chapters should be recited once after Zhuhr, Asr and Isha prayers
and thrice after Fajr and Maghrib: Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas.

Recite this dhikr after Salatul Fajr and Maghrib:

Allahuma bika asbahna wa bika amsayna, wa bika nahya wa bika namutu wa ilaykan
nushur
O Allah, by your leave we have reached the morning and by Your leave we have
reached the evening, by Your leave we live and die and unto You is our resurrection.




Asbahna wa asbahal mulku lillahi wal hamdu lillah, lailaha illallah
wahdahu la sharikalah, lahul mulku walahul hamd wahuwa ala kulli shay in qadir.
Rabbi as aluka khayra ma fi hadhal yawm wa khayra ma ba'dah, wa a 'udhubika min
sharri hadhal yawm wa sharri ma ba'dah. Rabbi a 'udhubika minal kasali wa su il
kibar. Rabbi a 'udhubika min adhabin fin nar wa adhabin fil qabr
We have reached the morning and at this very time unto Allah belongs all sovereignty,
and all praise is for Allah. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone,
without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things
omnipotent. My Lord, I ask You for the good of this night and the good of what follows
it and I take refuge in You from the evil of this night and the evil of what follows it.
My Lord, I take refuge in You from laziness and senility. My Lord, I take refuge in You
from torment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.




Allahumma anta rabbi lailaha illa anta khalaqtani wa ana abduka wa ana ala ahdika
wa wa'dika mastata'tu a'udhubika min sharri ma sana'tu, abu u laka bini'matika
alayya wa abu u laka bi dhambi, faghfirli fa innahu la yaghfirudh dhunuba illa anta
O Allah, You are my Lord, none has the right to be worshipped except You, You
created me and I am Your servant and I abide to Your covenant and promise as best I
can, I take refuge in You from the evil of which I have committed. I acknowledge Your
favour upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for verily none can forgive
sin except You.

Bismillahilladhi la yadurru ma 'asmihi shay un fil ardi wala fis sama i wa huwas sami
ul alim (3x)
In the name of Allah with whose name nothing is harmed on earth nor in the heavens
and He is the All-Seeing, the All-Knowing.

Subhanallahi wabihamdih adada khalqih, wa rida nafsih, wa zinata arshih, wa
midada kalimatih (3x)
How perfect Allah is and I praise Him by the number of His creation and His pleasure,
and by the weight of His throne, and the ink of His words.

Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa huwa alayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa rabbul arshil azhim (7x)
Allah is Sufficient for me, none has the right to be worshipped except Him, upon Him I
rely and He is Lord of the exalted throne.



Dhikr in the Evening:


Allahuma bika amsayna wa bika asbahna, wa bika nahya wa bika namutu wa ilaykal
masir
O Allah, by your leave we have reached the morning and by Your leave we have
reached the evening, by Your leave we live and die and unto You is our return.




Amsayna wa amsal mulku lillahi wal hamdu lillah, lailaha illallah wahdahu la
sharikalah, lahul mulku walahul hamd wahuwa ala kulli shay in qadir. Rabbi as aluka
khayra ma fi hadhal yawm wa khayra ma ba'dah, wa a 'udhubika min sharri hadhal
yawm wa sharri ma ba'dah. Rabbi a 'udhubika minal kasali wa su il kibar. Rabbi a
'udhubika min adhabin fin nar wa adhabin fil qabr
We have reached the evening and at this very time unto Allah belongs all sovereignty,
and all praise is for Allah. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone,
without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things
omnipotent. My Lord, I ask You for the good of this night and the good of what follows
it and I take refuge in You from the evil of this night and the evil of what follows it.
My Lord, I take refuge in You from laziness and senility. My Lord, I take refuge in You
from torment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.

Fear of Shirk:


Allahumma innee a udhu bika min an ushrika bika shay an alamuhu, wa astaghfiruka
lima la alamuh.
O Allah, I take refuge in You lest I should commit shirk with You knowingly and I seek
Your forgiveness for what I do unknowingly.


When Angry or If a Suggestion from Satan Assail You:


A udhu billahi minash shaytanir rajim
I take refuge with Allah from the accursed devil.



Before Sexual Intercourse:


Bismillah, allahumma jannibnash shaytan, wajannibish shaytana ma razaqtana
In the name of Allah. O Allah, keep the devil away from us and keep the devil away
from what you have blessed us with.



Settling a Debt:


Allahummak fini bihalalika an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika amman siwak
O Allah, make what is lawful enough for me, as opposed to what is unlawful, and
spare me by Your grace, of need of others.



When in Distress or Afflicted by Calamity or Trials:


La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minazh zhalimin
None has the right to be worshipped except You. How perfect You are, verily I was
among the wrong-doers.


Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji un, allahumma jurni fi musibati wakhluf li khayran
minha
To Allah we belong and unto Him is our return.O Allah, recompense me for my
affliction and replace it for me with something better.
