=a belief or notion, not based on reason

or knowledge, in or of the
ominous significance of a particular thing,
circumstance, occurrence, proceeding

Superstitions began centuries ago
when our ancestors tried to explain
mysterious circumstances or events
as best they could with the
knowledge they had.
For instance, before the development
of science explained such strange
things as why mirrors show our
reflections or why shadows appear
when its sunny, ancient people
reasoned that a shadow or refletion
was part of their souls.
This is probably the
superstition that is most widely
used today. By making the sign
of the Christian faith with our
fingers, evil spirits would be
prevented from destroying our
chances of good fortune.

The superstition that the
finding of a four-leaf clover
can bring good luck is so old
that its origin is lost in
antiquity. One of the oldest
legends has it that Eve, upon
being ejected from the
Garden of Eden, took a four-
leaf clover with her. Because
the clover was a bit of green
from paradise, its presence in
one's own garden came to be
looked upon as an omen of
good luck.

According to some traditions, a
young woman seeking a husband
should go in search of a four-leaf
clover. If she is fortunate enough
to find one, she is to eat it. The
first unmarried man she
encounters after eating the clover
will be the one she will wed.
Another tradition of gaining a
husband or wife is to find a four-
leaf clover and place it in one's
shoe first thing in the morning.
The first unmarried member of the
opposite sex encountered that day
will be one's future spouse.

halves and count the seeds
inside it. You will have the
number of children similar

If you find a penny on the ground
Pick it up, don't keep it down.
Keep it close, whatever you do,
For an angel is watching over you.
Keep that penny close to your heart
And then from there your luck will start.
Angels watching you day and night
To keep you smiling and away your fright.
A lucky penny on the ground
Is to keep all your luck around.
If you find a penny, pass it along
Keep the angels awake and strong.
Let them help you through your life
Through happiness, sorrow, love and strife.
If you find a penny, make a wish
Put it in your hands and make a fist.

And make a wish with all your might.
For if you do, your wish will come true
All because angels are watching over you

On an outside wall,

Drifting through the night

See it as a beacon
Calling them to light.

Will be hiding in your house.

Every mirror in the house.
Whats a bit of bad luck
When a devils at your throat?

So listen when I tell you
Before it is too late,
Never hang a mirror
On an outside wall.
