COSMOS TOOLS Step by Step

STEP 1: eContent

1) Find / select a topic for learning scenario
2) make a list of Learning Objects, which will be used within learning sceario:
size of files, type of files (jpg., txt, doc, etc.) CHECKLIST
3) Copyright: clarify the copyright

STEP 2: Metatagging eContent and creating IEEE-LOM Standards

1) Go to COSMOS Portal http://www.cosmos-project.eu
2) Register on the portal
3) Go to tab Toolbox and download the COSMOS-ASK-LOM-AT Tool (=
msi/Microsoft Windows Installer) Authoring Toolkit
4) Save it on your PC and install it as an administrator

5) Start the COSMOS-ASK-LOM-AT Tool and click on Create a New LOM
Record
6) Make the metadata for each of the Learning Objects -> follow the 27 steps
(VIDEO TUTORIAL)
7) Change to tab Extract/Save Metadata and click on Extract/Save LOM
Record and save the .xml-file on your PC

STEP 3: Upload eContent in COSMOS portal

1) Go to the COSMOS Portal and select Submit Educational Content
2) Insert title / Browse for the Learning Object (Educational Content) File (e.g.
word, jpg ...); Browse for the corresponding Metadata xml-File -> Submit .
You have to do this for each LO.


Educational Scenario

STEP 4: Description of the Scenario

1) Choose the pedagogical method: template of Scenarios

2) Fill it in

STEP 5: Flow Chart of Learning Activities

1) Make for each activity from the choosen pedagogical method one ore more
presentation slides e.g. ppt, word, etc. (as single files)
2) Make for the needed environment tools/services (databases, vle, etc.) of the
scenario also one ore more presentation slides (as single files)
3) Convert the .ppt to .html (save as website in Powerpoint) -> a new folder will
be generated automatically with an corresponding index file

STEP 6: Creating description of Scenario in IMS-LD Standard

1) Go to COSMOS Portal http://www.cosmos-project.eu
2) Register on the portal (if necessary)
3) Go to Toolbox and download the COSMOS-ASK-LDT Tool (= msi/Microsoft
Windows Installer) Learning Designer Toolkit
4) Save it on your PC and install it as an administrator

5) Start the COSMOS-ASK-LDT Tool and open New educational scenario on
the Menu File, fill in the title and select your chosen scenario
6) Click on Package Resources
7) Insert index file, the folder and all files within it into the corresponding learning
activities and other needed environment tools/services
8) Click on Create Content Package and save the .zip-file on your PC

STEP 7: Metatagging Scenario and creating IEEE-LOM Standards

1) Start the COSMOS-ASK-LOM-AT Tool and click on Create a New LOM
Record
2) Make the metadata for the educational scenario -> follow the 27 steps (VIDEO
TUTORIAL)
3) Change to tab Extract/Save Metadata and click on Extract/Save LOM
Record and save the .xml-file on your PC

STEP 8: Upload Scenario in COSMOS portal

1) Go to the COSMOS Portal and select Submit Learning Activity
2) Insert title / Browse for the Learning Activity File (.zip); Browse for the
corresponding Metadata .xml-File -> SUBMIT .
