The Naval Academy promoted six new senior chief
petty offcers June 9 during a ceremony outside the
Administration Building.
Congratulations to:
MUCS Jarrod Williams, Naval Academy Band
MUCS James Fowler, Naval Academy Band
CTTCS Andrew Salzman, 17th Company SEL
HMCS Donnie Bow, 5th Company SEL
BUCS Courtland Sawyer, 18th Company SEL
CSCS Mike Hanford, Buchanan House staff
Also congratulations to three new senior chiefs in the
feet who will soon be reporting to the Naval Academy
for duty: YNCS Nate Gorka, ATCS Jovan Gates, and
BMCS Nathan McQuown.
A public meeting will be held June 18, from 7 to 9 p.m.
at the Lowes Annapolis Hotel, 126 West St., regarding
the construction and operation of USNAs proposed
Center for Cyber Security Studies and parking garage.
CLASS OF 1971 HONORS
CARRI ER OFFI CER
Four midshipmen are among the 14 students from
U.S. military academies chosen by the Auschwitz
Jewish Center Foundation to participate in the centers
American Service Academies Program this summer.
Rising high school seniors attend the Naval Academy
Summer Seminar to learn more about life as a
midshipman and how the academy trains and prepares
future military leaders.

NAVAL ACADEMY SUMMER STEM CAMP
The Naval Academy STEM Camp encourages middle and high school students to pursue further study in
science, technology, engineering and math felds.

The Naval Academy Gift Shop, located inside the
Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center at Gate 1, will host a
book signing for photographer Roger Miller July 1
(Induction Day) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
BBQ BATTLE TI CKETS
Dont miss the XXII Safeway Barbecue Battle June
21 and 22 on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW (between
9th-14th Streets). Youll fnd free food samples, live
music, cooking demos, celebrity chef signing, Texas on
Tour, Americas BBQ Restaurant Row a variety ofBBQ
cooking contests and much more. Transportation is
by metro: Blue or Orange Line to Smithsonian Station.

in the MWR Recreation Services Bldg. #89, NSA

TEEN CAMP
The Bill the Kid Youth Center will host another Teen
camp from July 7 to Aug. 1 for kids (from 6th to 12th
grade) of active duty, DoD civilian or USNA contractor
personnel. Kids must have completed 6th grade to
register. Cost is on a sliding scale. Call 410-294-4998
