TEJ3M - Network Design Challenge

Introduction:
This assignment required us to design a network map for a new high-tech middle school. We
had to connect the backbone to 4 computer labs that have 4 laser printers and 4 3-D printers
each. 8 laptops along with NICs were also connected to the network. The router needed an
OC-3 connection and a firewall.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, I learned that creating a network design needs attention to detail as to get the
right products for the job. I learned the purpose of each component, from the router to the
printer, in the role it plays inside the network. I learned how data is transferred, received and
stored from a user the journey that data takes throughout the network. This was a fairly small
network, so I did not encounter too many problems other than making sure everything can
simultaneously work with each other and that I bought the correct products. Through searching
sites such as Tiger Direct I found the parts I needed and I think this wont be a challenge as I
get more practice creating network diagrams.
