The Hartford boys baseball team earned its fifth con-
secutive trip to the spring baseball tournament after
sweeping the sectional games at the Milwaukee Area
Technical College South Campus in Oak Creek June 10.
The Orioles started the day with a 6-3 win over
Milwaukee Reagan in the sectional semifinal. Matt Finley
struck out 12 batters while driving in two runs for
Hartford.
In the sectional final held later that day, Hartford beat
Milwaukee Riverside 14-4. The teams were tied 4-4 after
four innings when Hartford scored 10 runs in the fifth
inning to finish the contest. Alex Braunschweig recorded
seven strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings and also drove in four
runs.
The two sectional wins were part of a five-game win-
ning streak that began May 23 with a 6-2 win over
Milwaukee Riverside. The Orioles enter the spring tour-
nament with a 7-17 record
Hartford has qualified for the spring baseball tourna-
ment every year since 2010. The will play against
Kimberly on June 17 in a game at Fox Cities Stadium in
Grand Chute that will follow the 1 p.m.

vidual title winners at the state track meet in LaCrosse
June 6-7.
West's Alec Miller won the 1600 meter run with a

Dear Dr. Winter, when people are searching for a dentist
what are the things we should look for?
I think that being a professional brings with it a
responsibility for a doctor to seek out and take quality
continuing education. As a member of the Board of
Directors for the Wisconsin Academy of General Dentistry
we try and bring quality continuing education to all the
doctors in Wisconsin. I believe life long learning should be
every dentist's goal. The doctor should find their passion
points and take education to become proficient in those
aspects of their profession. One of the topics I lecture to
other dentists on is "General Dentistry As ASpecialty." This
highlights the fact that any aspect of general dentistry can be
learned at higher levels. An example of this is the extra
training our Dental organizations offer. There is the
Academy of General Dentistry that offers education in the
12 subspecialties of dentistry and offers an examination
called a Fellowship exam after taking 600 hours of
education. This rigorous examination and an additional 400
hours of participation courses allow a doctor to attain
Mastership in the AGD. The quest for Mastership allowed
me to learn more in depth techniques and attain a higher
level of proficiency in all aspects of dentistry.
I recently took parts one and two of a National Board
examination called the ABOI/ID, which is the American
Board of Oral Implantologists/Implant Dentists. This was a
two day examination with part 1 being an 8 hour written
examination and part 2 being defense of cases that were
presented from a pool of cases I submitted and cases the
Board presented.
There were two doctors at each station questioning me on
everything from surgical techniques, emergency situations,
prosthetics (crown and bridge implant techniques) and how
to handle complications. Attaining these credentials allows a
dentist to achieve personal satisfaction, professional
satisfaction and fuels the desire to continue to get better at
their profession.
The International Congress of Oral Implantologists is
another organization as is the American Academy of
Implant Dentists. These organizations offer courses, tests,
oral examinations that allow dentists to document their
cases, improve their skills and allow them to sit for exams
such as the ABOI/ID. In order to achieve Diplomate status
in the ICOI a dentist needs to achieve Fellowship and
Mastership by taking an exam, passing cases that are
presented and then sitting for an oral examination. So these
organizations offer many ways to engage and test a dentist
and help them attain new skills.
The AACD or American Academy of Cosmetic
Dentistry also offers tests and an oral examination process
to test dentists in the field of advanced cosmetics.
So while there are wonderful specialists such as
orthodontists, oral surgeons, etc. it is still incumbent on
generalists to continue to learn and improve their skills and
work toward perfecting the art and science of dentistry.

4x800 meter relay with a time of 7:41.87.
For Hartford, Brett Burkholz finished 10th
in the high jump by crossing the bar at 6-2.
West was third in the boys competition
while Hartford was 48th.
In girls competition, Hartford's Sam
Noenning won the discus with a throw of
148-11 while Slinger's Kiley Sabin followed
with a toss of 138-05. Sabin won the shot put
with a toss of 45-3.75 while Noenning
placed 10th with a toss of 38-6.5.
Also for Hartford, Ashley Melvin placed
fourth in the high jump by crossing the bar at
5-4 while Hannah Mertens placed eighth in
the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 46.01.
The West Bend West 4x400 meter relay

Ever wondered about entering your
dog in a training class, but hesitated
because you werent certain it was
worth your time and money? I encour-
age you to reconsider a training class
due to its numerous benefits.
Its nice having a dog who listens to
simple commands. There is something
rewarding in knowing you have a dog
who will come when called, go into a
down when asked, and stay when you
need them to be still. Central Bark
Jackson offers basic training classes for
all age groups: Puppy Jumpstart and
Canine Manners. Entering a class
means your dog will be able to do a
variety of behaviors on cue.
Some owners see training as unneces-
sary because their dog already knows
behavior cues. However, being in a
classroom with other dogs and humans
will offer your dog a time to gain social
awareness, impulse control, and focus
under stressful or high distraction situa-
tions. Therefore, even if your dog
knows sit, down, stay or come, your
dog doesnt naturally generalize those
behaviors. This means a dog who
understands to stay before being
released to eat at home will not neces-
sarily understand stay in front of other
very attractive dogs. Consider an
advanced training class such as Canine
Manners Level Two or Walk Nicely with
Me.
Often owners are frustrated that their
dog already knows basic obedience
cues, yet the dog lacks basic manners
and engages in problem behaviors.
Many people are extremely busy with
life thus resulting in a family dog that is
left with little one-on-one attention,
which is essential to the well-being of
our dogs. They give so much to us with-
out asking for anything in return. If you
are looking to enrich your dogs life, but
do not feel the need to train obedience,
consider the fun of an enrichment
course such as Play with Me! This is an
opportunity for owner and dog to
schedule time together to play, bond,
and learn all at the same time.

well-being! Owners also profit from the

whos received enrichment and the

Mount Mary Universitys CREO Art
and Design Honors Show
Amy Wrocklage, a resident of Jackson
and senior at Mount Mary University, was
selected by an independent jury to show-
case her graphic design work in the CREO
2014 Honors Show held on Friday, May 9
at the Harley-Davidson Museums Rumble
Room in Milwaukee. Wrocklage, a graphic
design major, exhibited works entitled
Irish Fest, Zombie Mask and
Womens Center Program.
CREO, which is Latin for to make, cre-
ate, produce, annually celebrates the cre-
ativity of student work in several programs
of Mount Marys School of Arts and
Design including fine art, graphic design,
interior design and fashion. The jury was
comprised of professional artists and
designers and selected work based on
quality and aesthetics. In addition to the
honors art and design show, CREO also
featured the Student Designer Fashion
Show.

Create a backyard escape with the help of
container gardens. Whether youre looking for a
visit to the desert, an English garden or tropical
paradise, a few planters can help create the
mood.
Reduce your workload and increase your
enjoyment with a bit of planning and proper
planting.
Select a container with drainage holes and
one that mimics the color and feel of the location
you are trying to recreate. Use troughs, stone or
other containers made from neutral colors when
growing succulents. The container should com-
plement, but not overpower the simple beauty of
the desert plants.
Keep things warm and natural when going
for a more tropical feel. Wicker, bamboo and
other natural materials work well with the lush
foliage and vibrant colors of tropical plants.
Add a few terra cotta, metal and basket
type containers when creating an English cot-
tage setting. Set them on your patio, steps or in
the garden to create a focal point.
Keep your plants looking good throughout
the season with the proper planting mix. Look for
potting mixes with good drainage and water
holding abilities, like Schultz Potting Soil Plus
(schultz.com). Check the label as some mixes
contain enough fertilizer to last the entire season
and water-retaining crystals to reduce the need
to water.
Use a cactus mix that provides the perfect
growing conditions for cacti and succulents. The
potting mix should retain the moisture and nutri-
ents the plants need, while providing the excel-

Plant any orchids added to your backyard
tropical paradise in a potting mix designed for
these plants. Use an orchid mix that has excellent
drainage and aeration, yet retains the moisture
and nutrients these beauties need to thrive.
Check your planters daily and water thor-
oughly whenever the top few inches of soil are
crumbly and slightly moist. Allow cacti and suc-
culents to go a bit drier.
Mulch the soil in tropical, herb, vegetable
and annual container gardens. Spread a thin
layer of shredded leaves, evergreen needles or
twice shredded bark over the soil surface. Use
fine pebbles for cacti and succulents that like
things hot and dry.
And dont forget about garden accents. A
wattle fence and arbor of twigs and branches
work well for an English garden setting, while a
water feature can enhance a tropical paradise
themed garden, and some southwest garden art
can complete the desert scene youre going for.

Inside Sales and Estimator ~ The Estimator responsible
for providing accurate cost estimates for high quality,
engineered, stampings, fabrications, elements and complete
assemblies, with minimal supervision. Able to read blueprints.
Experience in Job shop / Metal Manufacturing preferred
Brake Press, Program, Setup and Operate ~ 1st and 2nd
shift ~ Set up and operated brake press, metal fabrication
medium to heavy plate steel. Prefer strong setup and print
reading skills, will consider a strong operator.
Quality Inspector/Technician ~ 1st and 2nd shift ~
Candidates will have 3-5 years quality inspection
experience. Experience with ISO-9001 ~ Root Cause /
Corrective Actions a plus. Able to communicate effectively
with a variety of manufacturing and support personnel.
Knowledge with standard computer software and data
analysis (Experience with Unipoint program a plus)
Maintenance technician ~ 1st or 2nd ~ Minimum
of 3-5 years related work experience in a manufacturing
environment. (Metal fabrication industry a plus) Hands-on
knowledge of trade fundamentals in dealing with general
repairs (electrical, mechanical, heating, plumbing, machinery,
