The KNX/EIB interface is a serial interface for the EIB system with integrated 2-wire bus coupler. KNX/
EIB devices can be connected to the myGEKKO by means of this interface.
The KNX interface is connected to an RS232 in-
terface. The KNX interface can be connected to
either a free interface directly on the myGEKKO
Touch or the interface distributor USB/quadru-
ple RS232 (art. nr. ACC-RS201). A maximum of
5 interfaces are available on a myGEKKO Touch
with distributor.

Reduction of wiring sensors on KNX
Using KNX sensors, it is possible to reduce the wiring. You can determine if you should use traditional
sensors, sensors in star topology or KNX sensors with a simple cost-beneft evaluation.

myGEKKO as interface - KNX connected to external systems

myGEKKO can be considered as a higher-level interface, in which all software modules for the external
systems are already integrated. No programming skills are required for the connection of the external
systems. The assignments are carried out directly via the touch display.

Thanks to myGEKKO, also existing KNX systems can be visualised and easily interlinked to external
systems such as Modbus, Enocean, Telenot, heating systems, Multiroom Audio, LAN, etc. Furthermore,
with myGEKKO scenarios, timers and links can be generated by the fnal customer himself, which is
only partially possible with KNX, or only with the aid of the ETS.

3. 3. Application example - sensors on KNX
The following example uses KNX sensors for push-buttons and room sensors. The actuators are con-
trolled via Modbus (RIO/WAGO). All group telegrams are processed by the myGEKKO and forwarded to
the appropriate actuators.
Requirements for the KNX application of the devices

Push-buttons and binary inputs

It is possible to use any desired KNX push-button, BA switch or binary input. The one important thing
is that the application is able to fulfll the following requirements:
Command on Pressed -> Sending an ON telegram (DPT 1)
Command on Release -> Sending an OFF telegram (DPT 1)
CAUTION!
Older versions of the BA switches dont support this function.
Example devices:
Universal interface JUNG mod. 2076-2T and 2076-4T
1-way BA switch JUNG mod. 2071.01 LED (not all JUNG BA switches fulfll the requirements)
Push-buttons JUNG mod. 3094 TSM
Temperature measurement

It is possible to use any desired KNX object controller, room controller or single-room controller. The
devices must only be able to send the actual temperature; the temperature itself has to be readable.
Valves, fans etc. are connected directly to the RIO/WAGO modules. The regulation is managed by the
myGEKKO itself. This means that it is possible to install simple and cheap object controllers in the
room. The requirement for this application is:
The actual temperature must be readable (DPT 9)
Sensors on KNX
Actuators on Modbus (RIO/WAGO)
0101010101
0101010101
7
Example devices:
Room controller JUNG mod. 4093 KRM TSD
For example, the room controller can be programmed in order to show the actual temperature inside
the room and to allow the use of the push-buttons as switches. The operating modes of the single-
room control are defned on the myGEKKO Touch, the room controller is only used as temperature
sensor.
Programming of group addresses via ETS
myGEKKO supports 3-level group addresses (e.g. 5/2/54). 2-level group addresses are not supported
(e.g. 7/128).
1. Every object of the KNX de-
vices which has to be used
contains a group address.
The ETS only allocates the
group addresses, it does
NOT create any connection
between the devices.
2. The programming of the
devices takes place via
ETS. The group addresses
are defned only once and
dont need to be modifed in practice, because all function links are created via myGEKKO.
Activation of the KNX interface on the myGEKKO
1. In the main settings, change to the IO
confguration (blue/green arrows)
2. In the IO Station 5-8, it is possible
to assign the KNX interface and the
connected port (e.g. COM Port 1 if the
interface is connected directly to the
myGEKKO Touch)
3. With the push-button Confguration
>> it is possible to activate a test mode,
which works as a group telegram, in
order to check if the telegrams are
received.
4. Now the interface can be used in the
system menu.

Group-address assignment on the myGEKKO Touch
When all the KNX devices are programmed with group addresses and the interface has been activated
on the myGEKKO, it is possible to assign the systems. The following example describes the assignment
of one light and a single-room controller. The connection of WAGO or RIO modules to the myGEKKO is
not described in this manual. You can fnd further information on this topic on www.my-gekko.com.
A simple lighting circle
1. Log in as confgurator and change to the system menu -> Lights.
2. Select a free lighting circle and change to the IO level (blue/green arrows).
3. Enter the name of the lighting circle tapping the green bar on top.
4. Under Switch ON and under Switch OFF enter the KNX group address of the switch.
Caution: you have to enter also the data type DPT 1..3.
5. Under Switching output enter the appropriate RIO/WAGO switching output.
6. Done! Now you can control the light via display or using the KNX switch.

Single-room control
1. Log in as confgurator and change to the system menu -> Heating.
2. Select a free controller and change to the IO level (blue/green arrows).
3. Enter the name of the controller tapping the green bar on top.
4. Under Sensors -> Temperature enter the KNX group address of sensors current value .
Caution: you have to enter also the data type DPT 9.
5. Under Control -> Valve1 enter the appropriate RIO/WAGO switching output.
6. Done! Now the single-room controller is ready to be used.

Conclusions:
With myGEKKO you can easily assign the KNX group addresses to any desired function. The
KNX group addresses can be homogeneously linked on the same level, just as RIO, WAGO,
ENOCEAN, TELNET, DALI addresses etc.
The connections can be created directly on the Touch Display or in remote mode via LAN.
The functional changes required by the fnal customer can easily be carried out through
remote access if the customer doesnt want to do it himself, or together with the customer
by phone.
You can reproduce and adjust the myGEKKO system of the customer with a 1:1 scale on the
myGEKKO Touch in your ofce, and eventually send the customer the modifed backup fle
via email.
