Goals:
Students will gain knowledge on the memory systems that
they have and how to best use them.

Objectives:
Content/Knowledge:
Students will be able to define the different types of
memory.

Process/Skills:
Students will be able to use their short term memory to
play a memory game.

Values/Dispositions:
Students will show understanding of why it is important to
have both short and long term memory.

Rationale:
This lesson is significant because if students understand
how memory works, they will be able to use their memory
more efficiently.

Students will then demonstrate understanding through
making a flowchart of the steps of memory in their own
words.

Students will reflect on their own memory and decide
whether they think they use their long or short term memory
more and if they had to lose one, which would they rather
lose?
Students will write their thoughts down and share them
aloud if they would like.

Students will then write about how they felt that they did and what
strengths that they have dealing with their memory.

Metacognition is used throughout the whole lesson by the
students thinking about their own memory.
For the last part of the lesson students will share their first
memory that they have.
Students will write a narrative story of their earliest memory.
