The question paper consists of 34 questions divided into four sections A, B, C and D.
Section - A comprises of 10 questions of 1 mark each, Section - B comprises of 8 questions of
2 marks each, Section - C comprises of 10 questions of 3 marks each and Section - D comprises
of 6 questions of 4 marks each.

Question numbers 1 to 10 in Section - A are multiple choice questions where you are to select
one correct option out of the given four.

There is no overall choice. However, internal choice has been provided in 1 question of two
marks, 3 questions of three marks each and 2 questions of four marks each. You have to
attempt only one of the alternatives in all such questions.

In figure.3, ABC is a triangle right angled at A. Find the area of the shaded region if

A vessel is in the form of a hollow hemisphere mounted by a hollow cylinder of same


radius. The diameter of the hemisphere is 14 cm and the total height of the vessel is
13 cm. Find the inner surface area of the vessel.
OR
A 20 m deep well with diameter 7 m is dug and the earth from digging is evenly spread
out to form a platform 22 m by 14 m. Find the height of the platform.

25.

From a point P on the ground the angle of elevation of the top of a 10 m tall building is
308. A flag is hosted at the top of the building and the angle of elevation of the top of
the flagstaff from P is 458. Find the length of the flagstaff.

If (1, 2), (4, y), (x, 6) and (3, 5) are the vertices of a parallelogram taken in order, find x
and y.

Find the area of the triangle formed by joining the midpoints of the sides of the triangle

given triangle.

28.

Two dice are thrown at the same time. Write down all the possible outcomes. What is
the probability that the two numbers appearing on the top of the dice.

Question number 29 to 34 carry 4 marks each.
29.

A train travels at a uniform speed for a distance of 63 km and then travels a distance of
72 km at an average speed of 6 km/h more than its original speed. If it takes 3 hours to
complete the total journey, what is the original speed of the train ?
OR
Sum of the areas of two squares is 468 m2. If the difference of their perimeters is 24 m,
find the sides of the two squares.

30.

A sum of Rs. 2700 is to be used to give eight cash prizes to students of a school for their
overall academic performance. If each prize is Rs. 25 more than its preceding prize
finds the value of each of the prizes.

31.

Prove that the lengths of the tangents drawn from an external point to a circle are
equal.

A spherical copper shell, of external diameter 18 cm, is melted and recast into a solid
cone of base radius 14 cm and height 4

A circus tent is made of canvas and is in the form of right circular cylinder and a right
circular cone above it. The diameter and the height of the cylindrical part of the tent
are 21 meter and 4 meter respectively. The slant height of conical part is 12.5 m. Find
the area of the canvas used for making the tent. Also, find total cost of the tent if the
canvas used costs Rs. 12/sq meter.

33.

A bucket is in the form of a frustum of a cone with a capacity of 12308.8 cm3. The radii
of the top and bottom circular ends of the bucket are 20 cm and 12 cm respectively.
Find the height of the bucket and also the area of metal sheet used in making it.

34.

The angle of elevation of a jet plane from a point A on the ground is 608. After a flight
of 15 seconds the angle of elevation changes to 308. If the jet plane is flying at a constant
height of 1500 3 meter, find the speed of the jet plane.
