InnoTrans a success story.
On 18 September 2012 the leading international trade fair for
transport technology will again point the way forward for
the future of mobility. This unique combination of trade fair,
convention and exhibits on the outdoor rail display generates
an excellent response in the industry and is constantly setting
new records. Compared with the already very good figures at
previous events, on the most recent occasion attendance by
trade visitors rose by 21% to 103,295, the number of exhibitors
increased to 2,243 and the net display area grew by a further
19% to 81,171 m
2

OUTDOOR DISPLAY
Encouraging innovation.
The outdoor display is a unique feature of InnoTrans. A total of
3,500 metres of track is connected directly with the exhibition
halls and to the public transport network.
All the latest developments in the industry will be on show,
from road-rail vehicles and construction vehicles to freight cars
and locomotives, as well as entire systems for local, regional
and main line services.

The largest segment of InnoTrans is also the principal shop
window for worldwide innovations in rail transport. This is
where the industry can stage wide-ranging displays of compo-
nents and systems, from drive units to the maintenance of
rolling stock.

Technology which transcends existing boundaries presents
railway infrastructure with new challenges. New demands are
constantly being imposed by the requirements of a modern,
properly maintained network. The worlds principal meeting

Remarkable progress.
The Public Transport segment has evolved into one of the most
important trade fair platform for highlighting this complex of
subjects. It presents a comprehensive picture of public trans-
port, including everything from information technology,
passenger information systems and data processing, to safety
systems and fare management, as well as all kinds of passenger
transport services. The subject is augmented by the local and
regional buses on display.

The Tunnel Construction segment at InnoTrans has already
reaped the benefits of the links between its subject matter
and that of Railway Infrastructure. All imaginative suppliers

INNOTRANS CONVENTION
The word from the top.
Leading international decision-makers from industry, transport
and politics will be meeting to engage in a dialogue. With panel
discussions involving top-ranking participants, the InnoTrans
Convention covers many mobility issues of both topical and
future relevance. The main emphasis at the Convention is on
the Dialog Forum, organized by leading associations, compris-
ing the German Transport Forum, VDV (Association of German
Transport Companies), UNIFE (Association of the European Rail
Industry) and VDB (German Railway Industry Association).
The European Asian Rail Summit (EARS) invites ministers
of transport and the director generals of European and Asian
transport companies to participate in the discussions.
The International Tunnel Forum, organized by STUVA
(Research Association for Underground Transportation Facilities),
will accompany the Tunnel Construction segment.
The Public Transport Forum, organized by Planungsbro fr
Verkehr (PBV) and ETC Consultans GmbH, focuses the debate
on the future challenges facing local public transport.
