Link Engineering Company specializes in the design and manufacture of precision test systems and provides comprehensive test services for a wide variety of vehicle components. Headquartered in Plymouth, Michigan, USA, LINK has been serving its customers since 1935. The company maintains ofces and test laboratories throughout the world with partcular focus on components behind the engine, including wheels, hubs and related rotatng components. The LINK Radial Fatgue Test System is designed to reproduce the radial forces actng on wheels and tres to evaluate their integrity. This roadwheel type machine applies a controllable load to the test wheel through the tre interface with the surface of the roadwheel and inline radially with the center of the test artcle. Additonally, the rotatonal axis of both the test artcle and roadwheel are parallel. The radial load is applied and controlled by means of a servo-electric linear actuaton assembly. Tire pressure can be controlled through au- tomatc infaton and defaton systems. The test artcle must perform a minimum number of test cycles without test terminaton due to fatgue cracking or inability to maintain test load. Strategically located safety switches, along with data monitoring, provide automatc machine shutdown upon part failure detecton. Using the Earths gravitatonal pull, incremental dead weights are loaded onto the systems carriage and dropped to infict test parts with a specifed force, impact speed or total energy. A customized roller bearing design is used to minimize total fricton in the system, while providing a reliable and accurate method to reproduce impact speeds. The Model 1230 can be designed to ft the customers needs in regards to total height, weight and transducer assemblies. System Features: High Frequency Laser to Measure Impact Velocity Piezoelectric Load Sensors to Measure Impact Force Load vs. Displacement Curves Measured through Impact Multple Systems in Place to Satsfy Customer Facility Safety Codes Fixtures Available for Several Wheel Confguratons, Drive Shafs, etc. Wheel Impact Test System Model 1230 System Specifcatons: Incremental Deadweight Load: 90 1,35 kg (200 2,500 lbs) Max Dynamic Impact Loading: 111 kN (25,000 lbs) Max Impact Speed: 32 kph (20 mph) Conforms to SAE J175 and Other OEM Test Standards Model 2500 LINK WHEEL & HUB TEST SYSTEMS Model 1750 Model 1750 and 2500 System Features: Integral Sheaves and Table Brake T-sloted Plate for Fixture Mountng Guarding for Rotatng Members Failure Detecton System with Annunciator The LINK Rotary Fatgue Machines are designed to reproduce the forces actng on wheel and brake components as seen in vehicles. They do so by controlling the magnitude of the cornering forces consistently to determine the integrity of the test components. These machines are capable of testng rotors, wheels, bearing packs and axle extenders by mountng the test components vertcally to a rotatng table and applying a fxed or varying load while rotatng at designated test speeds. The machine confguraton is designed with the load arm either below or above the test assembly, depending on the preferred loading requirements. Normal procedures call for test completon upon test part failure or once the required number of rotatons has been reached. The load apply system utlizes a hydraulic supply located near the base of the rotary fatgue machine The fast response servo valve provides controlled load apply during the test. Model 1750 System Specifcatons: Max Load: 8.9 kN (2,000 lbs) Load Angle: 90 Max Table Speed: 800 rpm Max Wheel Size: 559 mm (22) Model 2500 System Specifcatons: Max Load: 44.5 kN (10,000 lbs) Angle Load Adjustment: 45-90 Max Table Speed: 500 rpm Load Positoning: 0 to 1, 140 mm (0 to 45) Rotary Fatgue Machines *Additonal speed and load optons available. LINK WHEEL & HUB TEST SYSTEMS The Model 3536 Biaxial Wheel Tester provides a comprehensive tool to simulate actual driving conditons to perform wheel and hub durability tests in a laboratory environment. It provides testng capabilites for vehicles from passenger cars to light trucks and SUVs. The wheel assembly is positoned on the interior of a drum, which is driven through the tre interface. Servo-electric actuators are utlized to provide the radial and axial forces, as well as the bending moments required to recreate loading conditons that occur on the vehicle. Model 3536 System Specifcatons: Tire Width: 335 mm maximum Max Actvator Load Forces Radial +/-40 kN (9,000 lbs) max Lateral +/-25 kN (5,620 lbs) max Actuator Strokes & Angle +/-20 max Speed: 150 kph (93 mph) System Features: Operaton through Electric Servo Motors and Ball Screw Actuators Eliminaton of Hydraulic System Reduces Noise and Minimizes Maintenance Mult-Axis Load Cell Close to the Test Part Reduces Data Transmission Losses Biaxial Wheel Tester Model 3928 Model 3546 LINK WHEEL & HUB TEST SYSTEMS The Model 3928 Bearing Endurance Test Machine provides a sophistcated test system to perform endurance testng on automotve wheel bearings by recreatng actual in-service load conditons upon the test components. The control system maintains a constant or variable load on each bearing assembly while rotatng the test parts at user programmable test speeds. Simulated forces are reproduced via a pneumatcally actuated load apply system. Vehicle route load cycles can be programmed for automated simulaton. All primary operatng functons are performed at the test staton including selecton of test parameters, control modes, display of pertnent data, monitoring of all test functons and executon of desired test. Ease of operaton combined with accurate and reproducible measurements make the Model 3928 an ideal instrument for control, product development research, or other endurance applicatons. The LINK Model 3546 Hub and Wheel Bearing Test System is designed to reproduce the forces actng on wheel bearings as seen in vehicles. It does so by controlling the magnitude of the cornering forces and radial forces. The axial and radial load apply systems utlize hydraulic cylin- ders. The control system maintains a constant force on each load apply system while rotatng the test part at the desired test speed. The test is complete when either the test part fails or the required number of rotatons is reached. This machine is unique in that water, mud and other slurry mixtures can be sprayed on the bearing during testng. Additonally the test enclosure is thermally insulated for cold weather environmental testng.
