Our Mission: Loving God . . . Loving People . . . Reaching Out!

Please remember in prayer:
Pr. Mike Sorsen Leonard Doffin Karl Reeder
Bonnie Sykes Ivan Waggoner Edie Jensen
Residents of Pilger, NE

If you know someone who is in need of prayer but whose name is not listed, it may be that
they have asked not to be included in the printed bulletin. Please remember them in your
personal prayers.

Lift up Bryce Del Johnson as he is baptized into the family of Christ today at the 10:15
am worship service.

Wilma Palmer celebrates her 96th birthday on July 2nd. We wish you Gods
blessings!

Flowers on the altar this weekend are sponsored by the Carhart Family in honor of
the baptism of Bryce Del Johnson; and by Rollie & Linda Downs in thanks for Gods
many blessings.

If you are hospitalized, PLEASE CALL THE CHURCH to let us know and PLEASE ASK to
be added to the Lutheran List. This will help our hospital visitors, pastors and
Jacquie Samway (Coordinator of Congregational Care) find you when hospitalized.

Zipporah, Moses' wife, is located in the back of the church. She will be registering
helpers and acquiring goods for Wilderness Escape, this years' VBS program. She is
also taking names of those who would like to deliver meals to our family of four.
Find Zipporah!

Vacation Bible School coming August 3-7; 6:30- 8:30 pm (supper 6pm).
Family members are invited and encouraged to join us each evening of
VBS for music and activities. Well be looking for you!

LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF
Teach a person to sew and youve given
them tools they can use to earn an income,
support their family, and break out of
poverty. Many of the thousands of Fabric
Kits Lutheran World Relief distributes are
used in vocational training programs to
teach young men and women useful and
marketable sewing skills. Include the
following items in each Fabric Kit:
Two pieces of cotton or cotton-blend
fabric (no knits or 100% polyester).
Each piece should measure 2 yds of
60 fabric OR 3 yds of 44 fabric OR 4
yds of 36 fabric.
Two spools of neutral-colored, general
purpose thread, 250-300 yards each
Fabric should have no stains or holes.
Pieces do not need to match in size or
color/pattern. Fold thread and one piece
of fabric inside second fabric piece and tie
with yarn, sturdy string, ribbon or a strip of
fabric. Please do not donate items with
any religious symbols, messages or your
congregations name. Please do not
donate any items decorated with a U.S.
flag, patriotic or military symbols, or
references to the armed forces, including
camouflage.
Do not enclose the kit or any of its contents in
plastic bags. Look for the aluminum washtub
in the west hall for collection of the kits. WE
CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

BRIGHT HORIZONS GARAGE SALE
Our annual garage sale at the church will be
held July 18. As youre doing your spring
cleaning and organizing, please remember us!

Dates for delivering donated items will as well
as times for donations and the garage sale
itself will be posted closer to July 18. As a
reminder, we accept all treasures big and
small. Please NO adult clothing. We will
accept childrens clothes. All monies raised
will go to Bright Horizons, a local agency that
aids victims of domestic violence and sexual
assault. Bright Horizons is a non-profit
organization funded by grants and private
donations.

In the past, there has been a wonderful
response, not only in money we raised, but
also with your generous donations. We hope
to continue this annual event with your
support. Anyone is welcome to help organize,
price or help the day of the sale.
Thank you,
The Garage Sale Gang

REMINDER:
THE VOLUNTEER TIDY-UP CREW WILL
MEET FROM 8:30-10 AM ON MONDAY,
JULY 7.

The Friends Christ
Care group sends a
HUGE
THANK YOU
to everyone who
helped make this

huge success. We cleared over $8200 for
the Animal Shelter of Northeast Nebraska.
The food was delicious and everyone and their
pets had a wonderful time. Sara Abler and her
volunteers cooked up an awesome pulled-
pork sandwich that had people coming back
for more. Thank you to all who worked so
hard, including Lois Braesch, Jim Mertz, Jim
Carter, Pastor David, and members of the
Friends group (Kayla, Connie & Tom, Eline,
Naoma, Carol, Pat & Warren.) Also many
thanks to Jacquie Samway for the horse rides,
Jo Schaefer for her raffle theme baskets, Diane
Sobotka for the paws & bones cookies, and
all the people who brought cookies and
dessert bars. St. Johns is truly blessed to have
such wonderful people supporting the
ministry of our church. The reverse offering
continues to grow.
