NARRATIVE REPORT Educational tour is the way that students learn through travel. They experience of seeing everything which is educational in the environment. We, the graduate studies and faculty of UNEP located in Iriga, City/ Del Gallego. Had an educational tour dated May 16 to 17, 2014. I feel excited when Dr. Imelda Tangalin announced the tour. I always imagine the place where we go especially when they give the itinerary of the tour. Its an opportunity for me to reach beautiful places in Bicol that I cannot already see. The day was come; it was May 16, 2014 at 3:30 in the morning, the time of departure. We reach the departure area at exactly 3 o clock in the morning with excitement and ready to travel. I feel good that time but when I get into the bus my stomach starts to rock. I feel dizzy. So, I decided to sleep. The bus stop every now and then if some other colleagues ride in. Until we reach the Owas, Albay. We stop for a while for our personal necessities.
It is about 8 oclock in the morning when we reach the Kawa-kawa. This is our first destination. At first, I feel disappointed. What is special in this place, I said. I cant see anything different. Then, when we look a place to eat, one of our colleague encourage us to go up the hill. There are tables and cottages up there. She said. It is the good place to eat. While walking up the hill, we saw the big cathedral which is not done yet but you can figure out how beautiful it is if it was done. We continue walking until we see the statue of Last Supper. It starts me to amaze. We found ourselves at the table under the trees eating our baon, (the rice and fried chicken from Del Gallego). The air is fresh and we feel relaxed. Plenty of trees you see everywhere. You heard the birds singing. Why it is called Kawa-kawa, we asked. Because every one of us dont know the answer, me and my friends from Sta. Elena decided to go up the hill to find out what is at the top of the mountain. Its a tiring walk. Every now and then my friends take a picture. The eagerness to reach the top is always in our mind, but our body gives up. Thinking that we are only on station three, our fear conquers our faith. My friends decided to go back. I feel disappointed that time. I really want to see what is at the top of the mountain. Why it is called Kawa-kawa? I am looking forward for the next time. At the foot of the mountain we waited our colleagues. It was 11 oclock in the morning when we leave the Kawa-kawa.
Cagsawa Ruins is our next destination. It was found at the foot of Mayon Volcano. It is the volcano with a perfect cone, and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The sun is shining brightly. We feel very hot, but it cannot stop everywhere to go around. We take the picture everywhere. Beautiful! Wonderful! everyone said. We walk around looking for special pasalubong. Its really a joy to see orchids with beautiful flowers in different colors hanging in every nipa store. It encourages us to buy. It is a good remembrance from Mayon Volcano, we said. Then, we passed by in a native store. I saw a native body bag for my daughter and 2 sili key chains for my sister in law. Then we take a fruit shake while waiting to others. Its time to leave the place. Wildlife is our next destination. Its about 1:30 in the afternoon. We see different kinds of wild animals like snakes, birds, ostrich, lion and many more. We take a walk looking for the crocodile. When we see it, we thought that this big animal was dead. We look at the crocodile for a couple of minutes, but it did not move. Until the care taker of the animals came to feed the crocodile. He called the big animal Venus and the big crocodile finally move toward the direction of the caretaker. Everybody laugh while watching the big crocodile eating the whole chicken. It is almost 5 to 6 whole chickens as I counted. We walk again to see other animals. We take picture everywhere, until we leave the place. Were going to the next destination. Its the Embarcadero according to the itinerary of travel, but unfortunately, the bus was not in good condition. After suffering to much heat inside the bus, because the aircon does not functioning, the driver of bus 2 decides that he bring his passenger first to the Pacific mall then go back for us. Its a long time of waiting. Almost 30 minutes. Then, the bus came and brought us to the mall too. Were hungry. Its time to eat supper. Then, we eat in Chow king. After buying two Barbie dolls for my youngest, we only do a window shopping. We dont have much money to buy whatever we want. Its time to rest and sleep. We travel again for the last destination for the first day. It was the Baao Recreational Center. We spent the rest of the night in this place. We saw the pool. It encourages us to swim. We decided to swim before we sleep. Then take a rest and have a good sleep. Its another good morning. Its our second day. We are in the cottage while eating free breakfast (longganisa, itlog and plain rice with coffee). After eating, we prepare for swimming. Water is cool and good enough for the hot summer. We enjoyed swimming up to 10 oclock in the morning. Then, we prepare ourselves for eating lunch. We eat chopsuey, menudo and plain rice. We are now ready to travel again. After a short trip, we rich the most important reason while were having an educational tour, to see and explore UNEP, the school of Graduate Studies where we belong. Wow, its big! Everyone exclaimed. There are high buildings and wide playground. One big tarpaulin catches my attention. Wow, amazing! 100% pass the criminology board exam. This school is good I said. We take a short walk and take pictures then rest while waiting for the research seminar. It is the main reason why we are in UNEP. It is exactly 2 oclock in the afternoon when we go upstairs to write our name in a registration form. The research seminar started. We take a seat and listen to the speaker. Its all about the policy of school and the research. All speakers are good. Its about 4:30 in the afternoon when the seminar was finished. Its time to travel again. Were going to CWC Provincial Capitol in Pili, Camarines Sur. The place is good but its sun set already. So, after a short walk and taking pictures, we leave the place. We are going to visit Basilica Church in Naga City. We need to be there before the church was close. We are lucky because the nun who is in charge to the church gives us the chance to kiss the Viva la Virgin de Penafrancia. Its 7 oclock in the evening. Home sweet home, but everybody is hungry. So, we passed by the SM Mall in Naga to eat dinner before going home. Its a long ride again. So, I prepare myself to relax and sleep. Its about to 11:30 in the evening when we reach Del Gallego. We are tired and sleepy but happy. Its another beautiful experience that I never forget. Thanks God, You bless our trip. Thanks to all the professor of graduate studies, you give us the chance to see and discover the beautiful places in Bicol.
