I. DESCRIPCIN
En este curso se analizan distintas perspectivas antropolgicas clsicas y contemporneas sobre
el parentesco, encuadrando las teoras claves y sus implicaciones. Se exploran etnografas que
consideran las variaciones del parentesco en distintos contextos culturales y la relacin entre
parentesco y gnero.

II. OBJETIVOS

1. Familiarizar a los alumnos con los temas y los debates tradicionales y contemporneos sobre el
parentesco
2. Afrontar y reconocer cuestiones antropolgicas fundamentales y sus aplicaciones en la vida
social adquiriendo una visin crtica de las distintas contribuciones examinadas en el curso
3. Conocer distintas formas que los mismos universales asumen en distintas sociedades, y lograr
analizarlas y compararlas, reconociendo sus expresiones practicas en la vida diaria social.

1. Descendencia y alianzas: teoras clsicas

1.1. Algunos conceptos para la discusin: la idea de poder en Java y la idea de familia en la

1.3. Alianza, reciprocidad y intercambio de dones
1.4. Malinowski, el espritu Baloma y el hermano de la madre
1.5. Sociedades fundadas en el hogar


2. Ciclos de vida

2.1. El concepto de persona. Sustancia compartida en Malasia.
2.2. Ritos de paso y iniciaciones: los Andes bolivianos, la Amazona peruana.

IV. METODOLOGA
- Clases expositivas, lecturas de textos tericos y etnogrficos, ejercicios bsicos de
exposiciones por parte de los alumnos.
