What is RBM?
RBM, or resorbable blast media, is a surface treatment
designed to roughen the surface of an implant without
leaving the residual embedded blast particles or debris in
the treated substrate. To achieve the desired roughening,
a biocompatible material (hydroxyapatite and tricalcium
phosphate) with a suitable hardened particle size is used
and then subsequently dissolved from the surface with
a dened passivation treatment. The result is a rougher
surface than the traditional acid etch treatments, provid-
ing a greater surface area for osseointegration.
