What Is IPTV ?
Simple Definitions
> 1) IPTV is the term used for the
transmission of TV over IP
> 2) IPTV is a set of services delivered to
the TV by a broadband service
provider as a managed service
> Physical device at the subscriber is
called a STB (Set-Top-Box)
> Multiple STBs at a typical house
> Underlying protocol is IGMP and IP
Multicast
> Video stream is being sent using
MPEG- 2 or 4 compression
> Traffic reaching the subscriber via
xDSL, Cable, PON, or even WiMax
