Transported
My paintings speak through layers of color, texture, shape,
Transferred images and symbols.
As my journey continues, I take the time, as in my yoga practice,
To breathe in, to breathe out,
New ideas come from within and from without.
Like a sponge I absorb the beauty I see around me.
The garden
The beach
The little trail through the meadow
The street of my town
Or the painting visited in a museum
Become sources of inspiration.
All these impressions move in and out
The dialogue continues while painting
Images of dreams are released
What appears on the canvas is always surprising, changing and mysterious.
Each painting is unique
As a mixed media artist, I love to explore all kinds of materials along with
acrylic paint. These can include collage elements, transferred images, coloring
with pencil, using ink or charcoal. I work on paper, canvas, board, or mylar.
Born in Switzerland, Claire-Lise has lived in San Diego since 1989. Both
continents have made their impressions and enriched her life. With many years
of practicing art, she has taught experimental mixed media painting, conducted
workshops and demonstrations to diverse groups all around the County. She
has served as juror for the SD Watercolor Society, Del Mar Fair, and numer-
ous art associations. Her work has been shown in galleries in San Diego and
Tucson.

Juror: Betsy Lane
Regional Exhibition
12/13/13 1/19/14
Betsy Lane established the Del Mar Sculpture Garden in 1998 follow-
ing eighteen years as a gallery owner in San Diego. She has built
numerous collections, has curated over fty exhibitions, and has
established working relationships with hundred of artists, collectors,
and art-world professionals.
In 1998 Betsy relocated to Del Mar and opened the Del Mar Sculpture
Garden. In 2004 she also began curating a sculpture garden at The Four
Seasons Resort Aviara in Carlsbad, California.
The Del Mar Sculpture Garden attracted the attention of local media,
including major San Diego city and county monthly magazines, news-
papers and business journals, along with the CCN local afliate and
Channel 10 Evening News. In 2006 the property in Del Mar was sold, and
Betsy Lane began consulting with both public and private clients with
an emphasis on large-scale sculpture.
Lane gives her clients the options of purchasing existing works,
or, when appropriate, site-specic commissioned works that
integrate the work with the environment. A specic program is devel-
oped for each client based on their needs and areas of interest.

The Gathering is a social, relaxed group where artists,
acionados, their spouses or signicant others meet
over potluck to discuss their latest work and adventures.
Children are welcome but the work is not censored, so
parental discretion is strongly advised.
The next Gathering dates will be:
Nov. 3 and Dec. 1
Description and schedule:
3:30 to 4:00: bring artwork and check in.
4:00: doors are locked (ring the doorbell after 4).
4:30-5:30: artists break off into groups of 9 artists to
present their work. (If enough under-age artists
bring work, they will be given a separate group and
leader.) Non-presenters can continue socializing or
join the group of their choice.
5:30 to 6:00: groups fnish up, reconvene, socialize and/
or help tidy up.
Artists can bring up to 3 pieces of artwork. All skill levels

In the UU tradition there will be a question of the day
(hereafter known as the Molly), which artists can answer
or ignore when showing their work.
Artists are encouraged to bring show yers, books,
magazines, announcements, etc., to share. Cost is just
$5.00 per person. Everyone is also encouraged to bring
food for the potluck. Jonathan will bring his famous
guacamole!
New members: this is a great opportunity to meet other
members, show your work and see the work being created
in the San Diego area.
Everyone else: show us your work, whether youre getting
into the juried shows or not. We want to see what you are
doing and have the opportunity to talk with you.
SDAI is continually growing and evaluating programs
in order to provide the artist community with exceptional
programming and opportunities. Feedback is always
appreciated and, if you would like to do so, please email
