High Power Factor ACDC LED Driver With Film

Capacitors
DOMAIN
Power electronics
OBJECTIVE:
The main aim of this project is to reduce the power imbalance between ac input and dc
output.
INTRODUCTION:
LED technology has experienced an exciting development in recent years. It is
commonly accepted as a new generation of light source for its energy saving, long lifetime, and
high optical performance. The cost of LED lamp is about five times more expensive than its
competitors. The total cost of ownership for a luminaire is comprised of lamp cost, energy cost,
and maintenance cost.
EXISTING SYSTEM:
AIM:
The electrolytic capacitors used as bus capacitors are about 1.01.2 F per Watt according to
the twice-line-frequency and switching frequency current ripples. the bus capacitors are used to
handle the power difference of ac input and dc output.
DRAWBACKS:
Switching frequency ripples.
Reliability issues occurring due to electrolytic capacitors.
components with shortest lifetime.
PROPOSED SYSTEM:
AIM:
The main aim of this proposed is to eliminate electrolytic capacitors in a two-stage
acdc light-emitting diode (LED) driver. DC-biased sinusoidal or square-wave LED driving
current can help to reduce the power imbalance between ac input and dc output. An ac feeder
LED driver without electrolytic capacitors is proposed in this paper.
ABSTRACT:
A new method is proposed to eliminate electrolytic capacitors in a two-stage
acdc light-emitting diode (LED) driver. DC-biased sinusoidal or square-wave LED
drivingcurrent can help to reduce the power imbalance between ac input and dc output. In doing
so, film capacitors can be adopted to improve LED drivers lifetime. The relationship between
the peakto- average ratio of the pulsating current in LEDs and the storage capacitance according
to given storage capacitance is derived. Using the proposed zero-low-level square-wave driving
current scheme, the storage capacitance in the LED driver can be reduced to 52.7% comparing
with that in the driver using constant dc driving current. The input power factor is almost unity.
Reduce the storage energy in two-stage acdc LED driver.
METHODOLOGY:
In this proposed converter, we will solve the problems of existing system using DC-DC
current control method.

driving current, the storage capacitance of the proposed methods can be reduced to 52.7%
of original capacitance.
