1 Introduction To be able to use an HTC Touch Pro 2 phone with TEMS Investigation, it is in most cases necessary to first install TCP Router software on the phone. 1
The TCP Router software is provided to you in the form of a CAB file. The present document tells how to install TCP Router on an HTC Touch Pro 2 phone that you already have, and how to obtain a license for the Router application. 2 Prerequisites Performing the installations described below requires that Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 be installed on the PC, as well as a USB cable for connecting the phone to the PC. 3 Installation and Licensing Procedure The details of obtaining a license differ depending on whether or not TEMS Pocket 8.1 is installed on the device. 3.1 License Handling for TEMS Pocket Phone Scenario: You have TEMS Pocket 8.1 installed on your HTC Touch Pro 2 and now wish to have TCP Router added. Since there is already a TEMS Pocket license on the device, Ascom can simply update that license on the license server so that it also covers TCP Router. Procedure: Ascom e-mails you the TCP Router CAB file. You install TCP Router by executing the CAB file on the HTC device. You then update your license by starting TEMS Pocket and performing the operation Renew License (see the TEMS Pocket 8.1 Users Manual). After you reboot the device, TCP Router will start up. This will be indicated in the notification area of the device display.
1 This requirement does not apply to Verizon branded HTC Touch Pro 2 phones.

3.2 License Handling for Phone without TEMS Pocket Installed Scenario: You wish to install and run TCP Router on an HTC Touch Pro 2 device where no TEMS Pocket 8.1 application is installed. The procedure of obtaining a license is slightly more complicated in this case. Procedure: Ascom sends you the TCP Router CAB file and a utility called TEMS License Installer. The latter is a PC application that is used to retrieve the device ID. An instruction on how to use License Installer is provided with the utility. With the HTC device connected to the PC via USB, you install TCP Router by executing the CAB file on the HTC device. You use License Installer to read out the device ID and report it to Ascom. Based on the device ID, Ascom generates a license and sends it to you. You install the received license on the HTC Touch Pro 2 using License Installer, again with the HTC device connected to the PC. After you reboot the device, TCP Router will start up. This will be indicated in the notification area of the device display.
