IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT

FOR THE WESTERN DISTRICT OF WISCONSIN
VIRGINIA WOLF, et al.,
Plaintiffs,
v. Case No. 14-C-00064-BBC
SCOTT WALKER, et al.,
Defendants.
PLAINTIFFS MOTION TO EXPEDITE BRIEFING AND FOR REASSIGMENT TO
DISTRICT COURT JUDGE
Plaintiffs respectfully request that this Court expedite briefing on Plaintiffs Motion to
Immediately Lift Stay (ECF No. 139), and that this matter be referred to U.S. District Judge
Barbara B. Crabb for consideration and decision.
On Thursday, July 3, 2014, Plaintiffs filed a motion seeking to have the stay of this
Courts June 6 and June 13 orders lifted, in light of Defendants foot-dragging with regard to
their notice of appeal and the resulting exacerbation of the constitutional injury to Plaintiffs. Id.
Plaintiffs sought expedited briefing at that time. Id. at 5. In what appears to be an automatic
response generated by the ECF system, the Court instead set a deadline of Thursday, July 9 for
Defendants to respond and assigned the motion to Magistrate Judge Steven Crocker. For the
reasons given in their initial motion, Plaintiffs now ask the Court to order Defendants to respond
by noon on Wednesday, July 9. See A. Bauer Mech., Inc. v. Joint Arbitration Bd. of Plumbing
Contractors' Ass'n & Chicago Journeymen Plumbers' Local Union 130, U.A., 562 F.3d 784, 790

(7th Cir. 2009) (District courts have broad discretion to manage their dockets . . . as efficiently
and speedily as possible.)
Moreover, in light of the requested relief, which requires modification of a prior order of
this Court, Plaintiffs request that their motion to lift the stay be referred to Judge Crabb for
consideration and decision.
WHEREFORE, Plaintiffs respectfully request that the Court order Defendants to respond
to the Motion to Immediately Lift the Stay by July 9, 2014 at noon, and that the motion be
considered and decided by Judge Crabb.
