Before e get started a fe more ords
on tension<
/he body shape of this seahorse is build
ith e=tended single crochet stitches
8esc9 and slipped stitches 8slst9> both
different versions of a single crochet
8sc9! /he esc as a bigger version and the
slst as a smaller one! Both are or#ed
on opposite sites of the specific body
parts and therefore create the uni&ue
shape of the body 8e!g! the bending of
the seahorse:s tail9!
/he esc are very similar to classic half
double crochet stitches 8hdc9 but use a
little less space and therefore don:t let
as much stuffing shine through as hdc
stitches possibly ould! "till the esc:s
leave enough spaces beteen the single
stitches that stuffing might shine
through if you don:t have pretty firm
tension!
/herefore it is important to really use
a smaller needle si+e than your yarn
as#s for if your tension tends to be a
little loose!
Also it ill help a lot to ma#e the sc
sts in the folloing ros 8above the
esc:s9 as tight as possible, this ay you
Aust don:t allo the esc:s to stretch as
much later on!
Also it is very helpful to use a smaller
hoo# to help you yarn over and dra a
loop hen crocheting into the slst:s!
/hese are very small and tight and
using a smaller hoo# to yarn over ill
prevent you from brea#ing your fingers,
still you should ma#e the re&uired
stitch itself ith the normal or#ing
hoo#! ( normally use a 1!2 mm % 3 hoo#
and have a 2 mm % B hoo# to help me
pull the yarn through those super tiny
stitches!
