ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Malaysian Students
Pass SPM/ O-Levels with minimum 5 credits in Mathematics, and 2 Science
subjects and two other subjects.
International Students
Pass O-Levels / equivalent qualification based on MQA guidelines and meet the
equivalent requirements.
ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS
SPM or O-Levels: Minimum a credit in English; or
IELTS: Overall band score of 5.0 or equivalent.

in Science at IMU
1. IMU - THE LEADER IN MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES EDUCATION
IMU is Malaysias first and most established private medical and healthcare university with over 22 years of dedicated focus in
healthcare education. Established in 1992, the University enjoys an international reputation and provides high standard education
at undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development level. To date, the University has collaborations with
more than 30 renowned international partner universities.
2. PREFERRED ENROLMENT INTO AN IMU DEGREE PROGRAMME
The Foundation programme provides the academic preparation required for admission into any undergraduate degree at IMU.
Students offered a place in the IMU Foundation in Science programme will also be given a conditional offer into one of IMUs
local undergraduate programmes, subject to achieving the entry requirements and meeting all prerequisites*.
Entry requirements for conditional offer is as outlined below:
3. INTERACTION WITH ACADEMIC AND HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS
As an IMU Foundation programme student, you will have plenty of opportunities to interact with staff and students of other
programmes and to fully explore the various areas in healthcare professions. This experience will assist and support you in
identifying the degree and career of your choice.
4. EARLY INTEGRATION INTO MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES UNIVERSITY LIFE
Outside of the classroom, the Foundation programme students at IMU will be integrated into the Universitys everyday life.
You will be in the same campus as the undergraduateand postgraduate students and contribute equally to the university
community. Learning is thus fully interconnected - academically, socially and culturally.
5. HIGH QUALITY CURRICULUM WITH AFFORDABLE FEES
AND CONVENIENT START DATES
The Foundation in Science is a 1-year programme and conducted in 3 semesters,
with 3 convenient start dates (January, May and September). Assessment will
be in-course as well as summative. The core academic subjects are Chemistry,
Biology, Mathematics, Computer Studies and English. Physics is an
elective subject.
A unique feature of the IMU Foundation programme is Cross Boundary
Studies where students have the opportunity to work in collaborative
groups to explore issues in an inter-disciplinary approach, strategise and
implement changes that have positive impact. Students will be able to
communicate how they apply their knowledge and to solve the issue.
