2 FUNCTIONAL NORMATIVE REQUIREMENT
2.1 Operative enviroment
In the design and construction of insulating joints the enviromental conditions
of the installation site should be considered as specified in Data Sheet.
The following enviromental factors which could effect the reability of the
product should be considered anyway such as:
- minimum-maximum temperature;
- condensate formation;
- presence of corrosive substances;
- mechanical stresses and vibrations due to normal operation;
- danger of fire and explosion.
2.2 Functional requirements
Equipment shall be manufactured in accordance with the requirements defined
in Data Sheet and in the documentation issued for the specific project.
2.2.1 Design requirements
A dielectric joint shall be composed of two pieces of metallic pipe,assembled
by welding along with interposition of insulating material and sealing gaskets
so that the two pieces at the same time come out each other mechanically
connected and electrically insulated.
The design of joints must be performed in accordance with ASME code
Sect.VIII Div. I Appendix 2 adapted conveniently.
Insulating joints shall be designed for a pressure defined by ANSI/ASME code
B16.5 for the pressure rating to which the piping where joints are installed
shall be subjected. Pressure rating and design temperature shall be specified on
Data Sheet.
