Fewer patients are getting admitted to hospitals. While that
may sound encouraging to public health officials, its discouraging for investors in hospital stocks. Last month, inpatient
hospital admissions fell between 3 percent and 4 percent,
according to a survey by Citi Research. And of those who
were admitted, more patients lacked insurance to pay for their
bills. That means third-quarter earnings for the industry will
likely depend on hospitals cutting their expenses, rather than
on increases in revenue, says Citi analyst Gary Taylor.

Investors rushed for the exits last month from all sorts of mutual funds that invest in bonds.
They yanked a net $18.2 billion last month from intermediate-term bond mutual funds, the
most popular type of bond fund, according to Morningstar. The departures were the result of
fear about rising interest rates: When interest rates rise, prices of existing bonds fall, and the
yield on the 10-year Treasury note rose above 2.8 percent in August from 1.6 percent in May.
But interest rates fell last week after the Federal Reserve surprised markets by holding
steady on its bond-buying stimulus program, when many investors expected a paring back.
The 10-year yield dropped below 2.7 percent on Wednesday.

CLAMPING DOWN
The rush to borrow by companies across the country slowed
down last month. Companies raised $149 billion in August by
issuing bonds, according to Standard & Poors Global Fixed
Income Research. That may seem like a big number, but its the
lowest monthly issuance since December 2011. It also comes
after companies
raised an average of
$322 billion monthly
from January
through May. The
reason: Borrowing
became more
expensive for
companies after
interest rates rose
during the late
summer.

Warranty Deeds, Trust Deeds and other special deeds are compiled daily from the records of the Davidson County Register of Deeds' office.
Warranty Deeds usually convey title to real estate from the seller to the buyer.
Trust Deeds convey a lien on the real estate from a borrower or guarantor putting up the real estate as collateral or security for some
purpose, to a lender receiving collateral or security. In many instances, the borrower is at the same time a buyer of the real estate, and
is executing a purchase money mortgage. When that occurs, the Warranty Deed and Trust Deed will usually have consecutive, or nearly
consecutive, instrument numbers.
Quit Claim Deeds convey from one party to another the rights or interest in real estate with no warranties of ownership.
Substitute or Successor Trustee Deeds are filed after a forced sale of property to satisfy a lenders or beneficiarys debt. In this case, the
substitute trustee is appointed to oversee the sale.

In a blender or a food processor, blend the marinade ingredients. Place the tenderloins into re-sealable plastic bag. Pour the mixture onto the pork, making sure its well
coated. Seal the bag and place it in the refrigerator for two to three hours.
Prepare the grill to medium heat. Remove the tenderloins from the bag and place
them on the grill. Cook, turning occasionally, about 20-30 minutes. Remove them from
the heat, let them rest for five minutes, then slice into medallions and serve.
Note: You can double the marinade and set aside half of it for brushing onto the pork
while its cooking.

me, at just about every
meal, that its one of the best Ive ever
made. Bless his little heart. I can open a
can of raviolios, sprinkle some fresh grated
parmesan cheese over them and warm up
some bread, and hed tell me over and
over that its one of the best raviolio meals
hes ever had.
One thing I can say about Don: hes
not lacking in compliments. Especially for
me. It makes no difference to him what
Im doing: cooking, cleaning, writing,
reading, sewing, decorating hes all for it
and thinks its the best Ive ever done.
Sometimes, I pick out something really
off the wall just to trick him. After telling
me slowly that its great if thats what
I want to do, hell look at me curiously,
and thats when Ill say, Just kidding.
Seriously, though, he loves every meal I
cook!
I marinated a pork tenderloin for a few
hours in Memphis Marinade for pork
and then grilled it. I also pulled back
the husks on some corn-on-the-cob and
rubbed it down with a spread made out
of softened butter, chipotle chili pepper,
garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, a
pinch of sugar, a pinch of red chili pepper
and some lime juice. After rubbing the
kernels down, I wrapped the husks back
over them and stuck them on the grill
alongside the
tenderloin.
Inside, I
whipped up
some mashed
potatoes,
warmed
up some
sourdough
bread and sat
down to a
feast. It was
so good.
I had kind of slacked off of grilling
when I bought my gas grill. Even though
it was a little quicker, it really wasnt
better. It knocked off a bit of time waiting
for the coals to get just right, but I now
know the wait is worth it. I was giving up
taste for a few minutes saved.
When I bought my charcoal grill, I also
got on the web and purchased an electric
charcoal lighter because I hate using
charcoal lighter fluid. The electric lighter
works great, and even though squirting
liquid on the coals and putting a match to
it means instant flames, the super-duper
heated wand I bought doesnt take too
long.
Im pleased with it, and what I get is
pure charcoal flavor. None of the, Uh
oh, I put too much fluid on the charcoal
taste.
Back to the meal. I picked up some
Memphis Marinade at Fresh Market
a few weeks ago. They were giving out
samples of grilled chicken that had been
marinated. It was really quite good, so I
grabbed a bottle for pork.
The guy who makes these marinades,
Jim Boland, lives in Germantown, and
his marinades have been given multiple
accolades, honors and first-place awards in
many contests. And a letter on the website
by Rabbi N. Greenblatt claims they are
also Kosher Pareve.
Boland developed all of the marinades
himself (beef, chicken, lamb and pork),
and all you do is add about a cup of water
to 1/4 cup marinade, bag, and wait! It
really is fairly simple, and even though I
havent tried any of them other than the
pork and one small chicken sample
that tenderloin was really good and juicy.
