PROTOCOLO DE INDICACIN DE SELLANTES PREVENTIVOS EN

MOLARES TEMPORALES Y PERMANENTES EN PACIENTES
MENORES DE 20 AOS


1.-El paciente se examinar habiendo realizado una profilaxis solo con escobilla, se considerara
para la indicacin de sellantes los siguientes criterios:

- El tiempo que lleva la pieza en boca dado que los primeros 4 aos son los de mayor riesgo.
- La morfologa de la fisura
- El riesgo cariognico arrojado por el Cariogram.
- Diagnstico ICDAS II cdigo O

2.- Se indicaran sellantes en pacientes con morfologa de fisura profunda cuando el molar tenga
menos de 4 aos de erupcionado independiente del riesgo del paciente.

3.- Se indicaran sellantes en pacientes con morfologa de fisura profunda slo en pacientes con
riesgo alto, cuando el molar tenga ms de 4 aos de erupcin.

4.- Se aplicaran sellantes de tipo preventivo en piezas completamente erupcionadas (nivel de
evidencia I, grado de recomendacin A). Se debe realizar un control anual de los sellantes
(nivel de evidencia I, grado de recomendacin A).



INDICACIN PARA APLICACIN DE SELLANTES
TERAPUTICOS EN MOLARES TEMPORALES Y PERMANENTES EN
PACIENTES MENORES DE 20 AOS

1.- Lesiones ICDAS 1 y 2 se indicara sellante independiente del riesgo en el
grupo etario < de 20 aos.
2.- Lesiones ICDAS 3 pueden ser selladas en pacientes de bajo riesgo, en
moderado y alto riesgo realizar obturacin preventiva.
