A boutique management-consulting firm based in Bangalore is looking to hire associates with


management degrees from premier B-schools. The firm is focused on work across three practices:

Investment advisory for PE firms deal evaluations. market and operational due-diligence of potential
investee companies; post investment improvement initiatives
Management consulting across a variety of industries in the areas of strategy, operations and
organization design
Design & management of customer loyalty programs for clients, primarily in the retail space

Position description: Associate

The Associate will work as an integral member of the investment advisory and/or consulting teams
(depending on the candidates preference and requirement).
As a part of the investment advisory team, the candidate will get chance to work with the top tier Private
Equity funds, sometimes as an extended team member of the PE fund. The role would primarily involve
evaluation of investment opportunities from the buy side, right from the initial deal screening stage,
through detailed due diligence and occasionally post deal support. The role would require the successful
candidate to use structured problem solving approach for deal evaluations and conduct valuation
modeling exercise in a sector agnostic manner.
In terms of exposure, the role would involve day to day working with partners/directors of investment
funds (PE/VCs), regular interactions with the leading sell side investment banks and participating in the
intense across-the-table deal room negotiations.
As a part of the management consulting practice, the successful candidate will be working on challenging
client assignments, which would be critical to the clients business. Financial modeling and structured
problem solving approach would be required on a day to day basis. In terms of exposure, the role would
provide a chance to directly interact with C level executives and other key stakeholders of businesses
across multiple sectors.
The successful candidate would at times program manage the engagements independently with little
involvement of engagement managers/ partners. Additionally, he/she will also assist in business
development and internal knowledge development efforts. Since the firm is small and is growing rapidly,
this is a great opportunity to work directly with the partners and learn important business skills in a
demanding, yet extremely rewarding consulting and private equity career.
Requirements for the position

Candidates must possess ability to structure problems logically, arrive at possible hypothesis, and
conduct required research and analysis to arrive at the solution. The candidate should also possess
excellent written and oral communication skills. Most importantly, he/she must be able to deal with fair
amount of ambiguity in structuring and solving complex, unfamiliar problems. He/she should have
demonstrable areas of leadership skills and business savvy. Candidate should have the ability to
independently take decision during projects and should have exhibited the same during his previous
work. Candidate would be required to demonstrate thorough understanding of valuation modeling and
related concepts.
Only candidates possessing an MBA from IIM-A, IIM-B, IIM-C, IIM-K, IIM-L, IIM-I, XLRI, ISB may apply.
Desired experience level is 0-2 years post MBA, preferably in consulting/investment banking/private
equity/transaction advisory environment.
Hiring Process
The short-listed candidates will go through two-three rounds of case based interviews. The first and
second rounds are generally held over a conference call (if candidate is presently based away from
Bangalore) and the final round shall be held face to face. The candidate may be required to demonstrate
financial modeling skills.
