In a number system, we write 49 as
100, 14 as 20, & 9 as 12. How will
you write 100 in that number
system?
The number system is not decimal. Let us assume that
its base is W.
12 can be written as 1 * W^1 + 2 *W^0 =9
=W+2 = 9; W = 7
20 can be written as: 2*W^1+0*W^0 = 14
2W+0 = 14, W = 7. Thus the base of the number system
is 7.
In order to write, we have divided it by 7, and written 12,
in order to write 49, we have divided it by 7, we got
100 (1*7^2+0*7^1+7^0). Thus in order to write 100, we
will 2*7^2+0*7^1+2*7^0 = 100 thus ans. Is 202.

A 2 digit number is divisible by 4 but
not by 8. when the digits are
interchanged, the number is also
divisible by 8. what is the difference
of this number & its reverse?

 Options: 24,36,40,32
 Step 1. list down all such 2 digit
numbers, which are divisible by 4 & if
reversed, divisible by 8. These are 84
etc.
 84 is divisible by 4 and 48 is divisible by
8. thus 84-48 AFTERSCHOOOL

What is the point of intersection of
the 2 lines: 2x+5Y-12=0 and 3x+12Y-
2=0.
 Let us multiply first equation by 3 & 2nd
equation by 2. We get 6x+15y-36=0 and
6x+24y-4=0. We get -9y=32 or Y =-32/9.
 Put the value of Y in 2nd equation and get
the value of X. 3x-42.66=0; or X =
42.66/3 = 14.22
 X = 14.22 and Y = -3.55 answer.

What is the maximum and minimum
value of expression:
(in approx.)(x^2+4x+9)/(x^2+2x+3)

Options: (3,-2), (4, -5), (2, -8), (none)

 Let us try for X = 1 and X = -1.

 When we put X = 1, we get the value of

expression close to 4
 Similarly, when we put X = -1, we get the
answer as -5. thus answer is option 2.

A,B,C in ratio 2,3,5. B sells 1/3rd of
property to each A & C. C then sells
1/4th property to A. and A has now
18000 of property. What was total
property?

 Let us assume that total property was

Rs. 40. A got 8, b 12 & C 20. B gives 4
each to A & C. C now has 24. He gives 6
to A. A now has 18. Thus if total property
is 40, A has 18, if A has 18000, total
property is 40000 answer.

We form a 6 digit number from
1,2,3,4,5,6. What is the probability
that this number is divisible by 4?
(repeatition not allowed)
 For any 6 digit number to be divisible, we
need to have 2 digits, which are divisible by
4 at the end, for example, (rule is regarding
last 2 digits only). 12,24,56,32,64,16,36,52,
 Thus we have 8 options from the last 2
digits. Total number of options with last
two digits are : 6 * 5= 30. (since repeatition
is not allowed,we are taking 6*5).
 thus we have 8/30 options or 4/15 is the
probability.

 (4.5*4) – (2+1) = 15.
 Answer: let us assume the heights of the
other 2 to be 1 & 2. Thus remaining 2
brothers will have height 15. 15 divided
by 2 will give 7.5. answer.
