WRITING GUIDE FOR ENGLISH 3

GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
To express ideas and real situations effectively in writing, through the use of
grammar and vocabulary learned.
OBJECTIVES :

To show the use of writing skills learned through a text in which it defends a point
of view.
To write a short text in which the student shows the use of the grammar and
vocabulary learned through the units and levels.
Stimulate the writing skill as an organized process.

Topics:
Units 1 to 6.
Grammar Compound adjectives, present simple vs simple past,
present progressive (future meaning), relative clauses,
markers, giving and asking for directions, prepositions
and phrasal verbs.
Vocabulary Describing the place where we live Time markers, lack,
lacking / enough / prepositions and phrasal verbs, Use
ING forms as adjectives, subjects and objects.
Connectors Contrast: However/on the other hand
Result: As a result, therefore, consequently

Learning strategy:
To write a text in which the e-student shows the handle of the grammar and vocabulary
acquired during the English courses and through accompany of the e- tutor and e-
students. During the development of the writing the e- student acquires the skills
according to writing following a series of steps to complete the final product, in which the
skills acquired will be evident in their writing skills such as: style, creativity, coherence,
cohesion, grammar, vocabulary and punctuation

INSTRUCTIONS:
How to participate in the writing forum
Review the units from 1 to 6
Read the guide and rubrics carefully and follow instructions.
First: Introduce yourself (Name, age, address, phone number, occupation) and choose one
of the following topics. Choose only one topic.
1. You were asked to write a short article about a trip you are organizing for your next
holidays. (Present progressive with future meaning)
2. Imagine you are the president of your country and you were asked to write about your
typical day and your future plans for the country.
3. Your friend invited you to a show or performance, now you have to report what
happened there and what activities you did there.

Second: Make a list of words you may use and write the main idea, supporting ideas and
the conclusion of your text.

How to consolidate your text

Consolidate and submit your text (PDF) on July 17

Use the dictionary frequently during the writing process.
Check ideas; they must be clear and organized.
On-line Translators are a useful tool, be responsible at using them.
Be creative! Imagination and good sense of humor are important items at writing.
Take into account that the text must have the following information. Also, divide
the information into five paragraphs. Each paragraph must have minimum four (4)
sentences and maximum eight (8) sentences.
Paragraph 1: Introduction (structure of the text)
Paragraph 2: Proposal (Describe the problem, question or thesis)
Paragraph 3: Argument 1 (give details of the situation, problem or thesis)
Paragraph 4: Argument 2 (Paragraph where you write evidences or examples)
Paragraph 5: Conclusion (answer to the problem)
