Instructions to Candidates
Answer ALL questions in Section A. In Section B, you can obtain full marks by answering THREE
questions. If you attempt more than three questions in Section B, only the best three answers will be
taken into account.
In the boxes on the answer book, write the name of the examining body (London Examinations), your
centre number, candidate number, the subject title (Mathematics A), the paper reference (7360/01),
your surname, other names and signature.
Write your answers in the answer book. Make sure your answers to parts of questions are clearly
numbered. Use supplementary answer sheets if necessary.
You must show sufficient working to make your methods clear to the examiner. Answers without
working may gain no credit.
Electronic calculators may be used and mathematical tables are provided.

In 2005, the Government introduced a tax of 15% to be added to the cost of manufacturing the tins
of shoe polish.

(c) Calculate the total cost of manufacturing one tin of shoe polish, including the tax.
(2)

(d) Calculate the lowest price at which the factory owner must sell each tin of shoe polish in 2005,
in order to make a profit of at least 60% on the total cost of manufacture, including the tax.
