TextWrangler

Adobe Photoshop
Design a web page using HTML to display the logo and content. (Use TextWrangler (Macintosh)
or NotePad++ (Windows)
Acquire a working knowledge of HTML. (Must include all required tags (Doctype (provided),
html, head, title, meta charset (provided), & body. As well as tag that links to external style sheet.
With in the body include h1, h2, p, ol or ul (with li tags), img, hr, and a (link to blog) tags.)
I created this website using TextWrangler. Never having previous experience working with CSS or
HTML I felt this project was challenging, but a lot of fun at the same time. I was really impressed
how easy it was once I learned the concepts of coding and I really am impressed with how it turned
out.
In class we used a HTML validation program from the website: http://www.W3.org. Afer the
validation was complete, I could begin adding my own content and design to the website. Once the
HTML validated, I was able to begin working with CSS. I marked up the content and then inserted
my logo into the webpage.
Afer these things were completed I then linked my CSS to the HTML document. I was able
to change the colors by loading my logo in to Photoshop and then using the eyedropper tool I
was able to get the color codes and place them in my CSS document. I was able to change my
body copy font as well as my header fonts. I made sure to add padding around my header so
that it wasnt too close to the edges of the website. Te major tools used were Photoshop and
Textwrangler.

Create a two-sided (duplex) folding brochure that includes a self-designed logo.
7/12/2014
Adobe Indesign
Adobe Photoshop
Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.
Incorporate quality images. (Incorporate at least four quality images (Not including the logo).
One should be clipped in Photoshop and text-wrapped in InDesign so the text follows the cutout
shape of the image.
First I created a layout for my brochure in InDesign. I used a basic layout that I learned in class
with a front fold and smaller images under showing through from the back side.
Once I set the measurements for the fold lines I selected photos that I wanted to use for my
project. I found images of music studios and recording equipment. I also found sponsors for
my event.
I created black rectangle shaped boxes and flled them with black for the background. On each of
my images except the image I used for my text wrap I put thick white borders to create repetition
throughout my layout.
I took the image of the headphones and used Photoshop to crop around the image to create my
text wrap. I then Placed the image into InDesign and used the text wrap function to make sure
the text wasnt too close to my image.
I also created several diferent colored boxes to pull out colors from my image and made them
look similar to a piano keyboard. Tis added great elements to the look of my project.

Learn to blend images together gradually, using masks. (Two or more images)
Use a mask to apply a flter to one part of the image (Copy the layer, then add the flter and mask it
out on part of the image.
I cropped the original image to 11 x 8.5 and then placed my text image into the same photo. I used
a mask over this layer and used the stamp tool to make additional text outside so that it covered my
entire photograph.
I then used a 20% capacity to blend the images and put the major focus on the hands, which
created the heart. I didnt want any lettering on them so I made them clear using 100% capacity.
For the parts of the background I used 100% capacity to create the dimension between the images.
I added some text for the audience.

Create three various logos for the same company.
6/6/2014
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe InDesign
Create three completely diferent, original logos to ft a company or personal image that will
appeal to the audience. Do not imitate existing logos or use your previous designs.
Gather opinions from at least ten outside sources about which logo appeals most to them.
I think this project by far has been the most fun to do. I used the rectangle tool to draw a box for
the frst logo. I created two smaller black boxes to give it some dimension on the sides and then I
created two small boxes to add some color and pattern to the design.
For the second Logo I used the pencil tool to create the bass clef. Ten I created 5 small lines
to create the music staf and used the rectangle tool to make the bold bar at the front. I used a
charcoal feather brush to create the smudged look. I then created the words studio in the font that
I wanted and then rotated the word to go up the music staf. I lessened the opacity of the text to
make it fade more into the background.
For the last logo I created a box with the rectangle tool. I added color and then created a rounded
square box for the black box to add some depth and then I used the ellipse tool to create the circle.
I used the pen tool to draw the treble clef and then created two smaller circles to create repetition
in my design.

I used Adobe Illustrator frst to create my logo. I then highlighted the entire image to save it as an
object. Once I did this I opened Adobe Indesign to create my business cards.
I made sure to create 23.5 sized business cards. I placed my illustrator images into the document

I used Adobe Illustrator frst to create my logo. I then highlighted the entire image to save it as an

For the letterhead I had to make a connecting section to bring my piece together. I placed a
watermark into the bottom. On the image here on line you cant really tell because I needed to
change the opacity to 3% before it wasnt looking weird with a darker box.

Professional Camera
Learn basic photography skills.
Adjust image levels, saturation, color balance, sharpen tool on separate layers for NDE (non-
destructive editing.)
Tis project was a great experience for me to learn to actually use a camera. Te frst photo I took
was of the Stake Center by the temple here in Rexburg.
To capture good light I metered on the lightest area of the sky and then lightened the foreground
with Photoshop for overall good exposure. I then came into the library and found some old books
to take a picture of. I used a light to help with the lighting.
For my focus image, I took a picture of some shoes. I used the macro option on my camera to blur
the background. Ten I took the same shot but this time focused on the plants in the background.
Tis was the hardest portion of work for me because I was unfamiliar with the camera.
Lastly, for my composition image, I took a picture near the Spori but facing the library and found
an awesome little light post to ft nicely into the rule of thirds. Te lamp post itself hit one rule of
thirds and the branch coming out of the tree on the right then hit the top horizon line of the thirds
grid. For the last composition photo I had a friend stand next to a brick wall and placed her eyes
on the third line.

Comprehend image sizing (how pixels and inches work together)
Find, scan and import a high-quality image.
Choose a color scheme and typeface(s) that work for your message and audienc
I used a scanner to scan in my image and then used Microsof Word to change the brightness of
my image. I didnt want it to be super bright because I felt that the shadows drew attention to the
biker.
I created text boxes for my title and text. I kept my body copy to 10 pt font. I used the same
font size for the important information such as the time and date and the specifc cause to draw
attention to these aspects.
I used a lighter teal to add some contrast to my ad and I also used white and black font to contrast
it as well. Tools I used were Microsof Word, Epson Scanner, PDF2JPG.net (PDF converter).

Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.

Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic fier layout.

Retrieve image and logo from links on this page.

Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep links in InDesign intact.
I began my creation of the fier with some sketches. I then created the design in Adobe InDesign. I
used varying shades of colors to create repetition and black boxes to show contrast.
I used the word Graduate to create a focal point for my project. I strategically created white space
and kept my body copy small. I was provided the image, logo and information for this fier.
