IDEAS:
Hales, Diane The Complete Book of Sleep
What is sleep?
In my paper I can talk about the biological process of sleep.
In Stage 1 of NREM sleep, your brain waves become smaller and much more slow
jagged pattern.
When college students were allowed to sleep longer each night, they slept less efficiently
but were less sleepy in the daytime. When their night sleep was restricted, they slept more
efficiently but were more tired during the day. (11)
Senrise, sunset: the rythms of your life
In my paper I can talk about what kind of rhythm is typical for sleep and how variations
occur
Nightlife: What goes on when the lights go down
Sleep is a time of intense physical activity, even though you use less oxygen, burn up fewer
calories, and rarely speak or rise from your bed. Much of your bodys activity during sleep
is invisible to an observer. The muscles of your middle ear contract. The flow of your
gastric juices changes. The chemicals essential for the basic processes of life pulse silently
through your body.
