Function of BBU3900
BBU3900 is the baseband processing unit which is used to interconnect with
BSC.
Provide external interfaces:
Abis interface: process the Abis signaling and traffic;
CPRI interface: provide the interface between BBU and RRU, process the PHY and MAC layer
protocol;
The BBU connects to BSC through the E1/T1 or FE link provided by the CMPT board. And
connects to RRU/RFU/ODU through the SFP cable provided by HCPM/HECM.
Provide the CDMA1X and CDMA1X EVDO baseband modulation and demodulation,
coding and decoding function.
Provide the synchronization clock information for BTS.
Provide the system source management, operation and maintenance, environment
monitor function.

CMPT-specifications and functions
CMPT: CDMA Main Processing & Transmission Unit.
Function:
O&M function: Providing the Operation and Maintenance function for BTS.
Clock function: Processing the clock signal from the GPS or line clock. Providing the time and
clock signal for the whole BTS.
Interface function: Providing the physical transmission interface for the Abis interface and the
interface between the BTSs. Supporting E1/T1 interface and FE electrical and optical
interfaces. Supporting ATM and FE transmission mode.
Processing function: Providing the signal processing function for the BTS.
Monitoring function: Providing a CANBUS module which is used to load the BOOTROM and
CPLD of CMPT, monitor the temperature and voltage of CMPT, control the power (such as
power on/off, reset and online status monitoring).

Functions:
UFLP provides 2 path FE/GE cable lightening protection function for BBU3900.
Note: Each BBU can be configured with 2 UFLP at most.

Functions:
Process the CDMA 1X traffic data of forward and reverse channel.
Note:
Capability: forward 285 CE, reverse 256 CE. Use one Qualcomm CSM6700 chip.
Each HCPM can support 12 sector-carriers.
Each BBU can be configured with 6 HCPM at most.

UPEU: Universal Power and Environment Interface Unit.

Note:
Configure 2 UPEU at most, working in 1+1 backup mode.

DBS3900 networking
DBS3900 networking: star networking, chain networking and tree networking.
Note:
For DBS3900s, a maximum of 2 cascading levels are supported.
For RRU3606/ODU3601CE, a maximum of 3 cascading levels are supported.
The maximum distance between two RRU3606s/ODU3601CEs is less than70km. The
total distance of 3 level cascading is less than 90km.
When the distance between BBU and RRU/ODU is less than 100m, use multimode
optical fiber and optical transponder. If the distance is more than 100m, use single-mode
optical fiber and optical transponder.
