An easy repair to a stuck satellite

This month is crazy month due to the world cup in Brazil and because o that ! was
getting a lot o satellite recei"ers or repair# This one comes on but it gets stuc$ on 0
channels# %hec$ out the photo#

! tried to change the channel by using the remote control and using the channel button
on the ront panel but it was no use# ! tried to reset the recei"er but shutting it o
completely by unplugging it rom the main power#

&ll these attempts were met with ailure# The recei"er was still stuc$ on 0 channels#

This is the inside o the recei"er and as you can see, it was not that complicated# The
problem ! was dealing was is complicated but ! ha"e seen this $ind o problem beore#
&t that time, it too$ me about an hour or so to get it repaired# This repair should ta$e me
about i"e minutes and not more# %hec$ it out#
'hen ! chec$ed the "oltage reading at the output on the power side, ! was getting
strange reading# The 12 "olts, ! was getting 24 instead# The 24 ! was getting 42 "olts#
'hen ! unplug the power soc$et ! get normal reading# This pro"es that something is
wrong in the power supply area#
(ince ! ha"e seen this $ind o problem beore, ! went directly to the cause o the
problem, the two capacitors that you see mar$ed with arrows# They are 1000u)1* "olts#
! you ha"e an +(, meter, which ! encourage e"ery repair technician to get because it
would sa"e you time and eort, you should go ahead and chec$ all the capacitors on
that board till you ind the bad ones# ! ha"e done it beore and now, ! am sa"ing time
and eort#
&s a repair technician, the capacitors would be the last thing to thin$ about in this case#
The hot !% in the main board was the actual thing that leads me to thin$ o a power
board problem#

-nce ! replaced these two capacitors, the satellite recei"er came bac$ to lie# %hec$ it
out#

&s you can see, the 0 is gone and ! now, ! am able to switch channels and en.oy some
ootball games on it# Mission Accomplished.
