INSURANCE ON FOALS FROM 24 HOURS OF AGE
FOR 2014 BREEDING SEASON
Once again its fast approaching that exciting time of year when your foals begin their journey into
the world of rearing and racing. Whether they are to be consigned to the Yearling Sales in 2016 or
straight to the racetrack, it is from birth that your risk begins.
We can help you minimise this risk by transferring it to us in the form of an insurance policy that we
can arrange for you. To facilitate this, we enclose with this email, a copy of our breeding register for
the coming foaling season.
If you would like us to arrange immediate 24 hour coverage on your 2014 foals, please complete
your expected list of foals and your proposed sums insured required per foal on the attached
breeding register and return to our office (preferably by email). Once a copy of your register has
been supplied to our office, we will arrange for cover to be effected with our Underwriters which
will be by way of an endorsement to your existing policy (or other arrangement as requested by
you).
This arrangement prevents any possible delays in cover being arranged after the birth of your valued
foal, or you overlooking to advise us to place the cover in the excitement of the moment.
It is important to realise that a current veterinary certificate of health will be required for each foal
insured, noting the required IgG levels on the certificate. You should advise the stud or agistment
farm where your mares are located of this requirement to ensure that this is not overlooked at the
time the foal is born and request that they either fax or email a copy of the vet certificate to our
office. Please advise us on the form attached of the location of the foal at birth so that we are able
to follow up on the veterinary certificate requirements.
Please remember that no coverage can be effected until the foal is 24 hours old and until such time
as a veterinary certificate that is unqualified and acceptable to your Underwriters has been received.
Once coverage has been confirmed by Underwriters, we will prepare the necessary Tax Invoice
paperwork and confirm to you.
