Summer Internship Report


Objectie o! Summer Internship: The main role of summer internship is to acquaint the students
with the rigors of the corporate world and provide a live opportunity to apply skills, tools and
techniques of management.
E"pecte# Outcome: The work undertaken by the students in terms of a technical study or research
should culminate into a formal report and a supporting power point presentation.
To write an effective report, it is essential to plan its contents well, though the report formats may
vary according to the nature of study and the company where the study is undertaken. Most research
reports include the following elements:
SIGNIFICANCE
1. They are the tangible products of the research efforts.
2. Management decisions are guided by the report and the presentation.
. Management!s decision to undertake research in future will be influenced by the perceived
usefulness of the report.
RE$ORT FORMAT
"ll the students are required to submit one spiral bound copy of the report along with a soft
copy #on $%&.
The signature of the internal supervisor should be sought before final binding of the report.

The sequence in which the pro'ect report material should be arranged and bound should be as
follows:

The table and figures shall be introduced in the appropriate places.

The dimension of the pro'ect report should be in "* si5e. The pro'ect report should be hard
bound.

+'3 T,b/e o! Contents 4 The table of contents should list all material following it as well as any
material which precedes it. The title page and $ertificate will not find a place among the
items listed in the Table of $ontents but the page numbers of which are in lower case 4oman
letters. 7ne and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter under this head.
+'5 6ist o! T,b/es 4 The list should use e,actly the same captions as they appear above the tables
in the te,t. 7ne and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter under this head.
+'7 Ch,pters 4 The chapters may be broadly divided into parts

The main te,t will be divided into several chapters and each chapter may be further divided
into several divisions and sub9divisions.
+ach chapter should be given an appropriate title.
Tables and figures in a chapter should be placed in the immediate vicinity of the
reference where they are cited.
:ootnotes should be used sparingly. They should be typed single space and placed
directly underneath in the very same page, which refers to the material they annotate.
+'8 Appen#ices 6 "ppendices are provided to give supplementary information, which is
included in the main te,t may serve as a distraction and cloud the central theme.
"ppendices should be numbered using "rabic numerals, e.g. "ppendi, 1, "ppendi,
2, etc.
"ppendices, Tables and 4eferences appearing in appendices should be numbered and
referred to at appropriate places 'ust as in the case of chapters.
"ppendices shall carry the title of the work reported and the same title shall be made
in the contents page also.
+'9 6ist o! Re!erences 6The listing of references should be typed * spaces below the heading
;4+:+4+<$+-= in alphabetical order in single spacing left 6 'ustified. The reference
material should be listed in the alphabetical order of the first author. The name of the
author>authors should be immediately followed by the year and other details.
