5 A performance at this level largely achieves all of the following: The topic is interesting and accessible to a non-specialist viewer Correct referencing in-text references cited on poster and detailed in full The layout is easy to navigate visually with attractive use of colour and images Delivery is fluent with clear pronunciation, appropriate intonation and sentence stress The students are able to interact appropriately with the assessors and share time equally with their partner The students are easily able to discuss different aspects of the topic spontaneously Appropriate spoken register is used. Mistakes are not significant. 4 A performance at this level largely achieves all of the following: The topic is interesting and mostly accessible to a non-specialist viewer. Mainly correct referencing but with some errors in citation. The layout is fairly easy to navigate visually and employs suitable images and colour Delivery is fairly fluent with only moderate strain on the audience. Occasional errors in word & sentence stress do not prevent understanding. Some hesitancy and restricted range of intonation. The students are able to interact mainly appropriately with only some unequal participation The students are able to discuss aspects of the topic fairly spontaneously, with no evidence of memorisation Appropriate spoken register is used and mistakes to not prevent understanding. 3 A performance at this level is marked by one or more of the following: The topic is identified but not immediately accessible to a non-specialist viewer without explanation Some inconsistencies and errors in referencing technique some references partially complete The layout requires some explanation to be comprehended, but colour and images are mainly adequate Delivery is understandable to the listeners and the student shows an awareness of word and sentence stress. However, some hesitancy is evident and intonation is weak The students are able to interact but participation is unequal or there is little evidence of collaboration The students are able to discuss aspects of the topic with some prompting from the assessors but with some evidence of memorization Mainly appropriate spoken register is used but with some mixing of formal (written) language 2 A performance at this level may reveal one or more of the following weaknesses: The topic is unclear and not accessible to a non-specialist viewer without explanation Referencing technique shows lack of awareness of conventions The layout shows no evidence of organization with few images and inappropriate use of colour Delivery is very hesitant, and puts a strain on the listeners. Little evidence of awareness of intonation patterns, sentence stress or appropriate word stress The students do not participate equally, and demonstrate few interaction strategies The students need considerable prompting from the assessors in order to discuss the topic. May be unable to respond appropriately to questions. The students show no awareness of formal or informal register 1 A performance at this level is seriously flawed by one or more of the following weaknesses: The topic is incomprehensible The poster does not have any references The layout is poor and does not make full use of the dimensions (A3) of the poster. Poor use of colour contrast makes text difficult to read. Delivery is extremely hesitant and the students' utterances put considerable strain on the assessors The students are unable to interact The students are unable to discuss the topic and to respond to questions The students produce little recognizable language 0 A performance at this level The students do not make a poster presentation.
