STEPS FOR SHIFTING THE TOTAL STATION

After taking sufficient no. of readings on diferent points there is
a need to shift the instrument to cover subsequent area.
Suppose we are shifting the instrument to the last point we have
sighted having point id (say 25) and the point id of occupied
station is (say 1)
1. Now Shift the total station to the twenty fifth points.
2. Do centering & leveling as discussed above.
3. Also, shift the prism to point (1) & now it needs to be leveled
by placing it in the tripod stand (there is a separate tripod
stand for prism to level it) by adjusting the legs by pressing
the buttons given on each leg.
4. After that we need to do some setting in the total station.
These are as follows:
5. Press MENU > PROGRAMS

6. Press F1 (Station Setup)

7. Press F1 (Set Job).

8. Enter the Name of the Job as discussed above.

9. Press F4 (Start).
10.
In front of the method select Orientation with
coordinates (not resection as shown in figure below. Use
navigation key to change this resection method to
orientation with coordinates).
11.
Now measure the height of the instrument & enter it in
the option (hi).
12.
Now the occupied station is the twenty fifth point. Enter
the point Id(25) or you can go to the option List and enter
the point from there.
13.

Now Press OK.

14.
Now we will give the point Id of the point to be
targeted/Sighted(i.e 1)
15.
The point Id can be directly given by using input or the
point can be taken from the list.
16.
Press F4 (OK).

Now the Orientation has been set & you can start
surveying as before by entering MENU > PROGRAMS >
SURVEYING.
Steps for Operating the Tie Distance Program.
The Tie Distance Program is used to find the horizontal distance
between two points either by measurement in the field or if the
coordinates of the points are present in the memory.
1. Press MENU

8. The Polygonal is the point-to-point distance where as the
Radial is used for finding the distance from a single point
being kept fixed. We select here F2 Polygon

When the Points are not in memory and you want to operate the
program by taking the measurements right in the field,
9. Sight the 1st point and Press F1(ALL).

10.

Now sight the 2nd point and Press F1 (ALL).

11.
Now you can see the results(Tie Distance) displayed
on the screen.

When the coordinates of the points are already in the

memory.
1. In front of the point enter the number of the first point and
Press F2 (FIND).
2. If the Point is in the memory it will be found then press F4
(OK).

3. In front of Point 2 Enter the number of the second point again
