than ever. At Mentoring Minds, we know that sixth, seventh, and eighth graders who fail
to grasp important mathematical concepts are likely to struggle in high school, college,

Our Motivation Math series was designed by teachers to improve student performance
by integrating critical thinking and test-taking skills into classroom instruction. A
secondary goal is to create a positive attitude toward mathematics. In other words, we

Student performance increases

After three months, teachers and principals noted an improvement in student
performance on coursework and an increase in class participation.
This improvement was reflected in their resulting TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge
and Skills) scores. In two of the schools where Motivation Math was used regularly, the
number of students meeting state assessment standards in mathematics improved by
10 percent. In the third, the passing rate increased from 62 percent to 76 percent.
